Ship Construction Promises to Generate Jobs in Bahia
Intended for cabotage transport (between national ports) starting in January 2021, the construction of the two 1,500-foot (75 TEU) ships at the Enseada Shipyard will generate 750 job opportunities in Maragogipe, Bahia.
According to the president of Petrocity Portos, the completion of the ships’ construction is expected to occur even before the port construction in Urussuquara, São Mateus (ES), which will operate from the Enseada Shipyard itself, finishes.
This is the first large contract for the Enseada Shipyard since it was hit by a naval crisis due to Operation Lava Jato. It is worth noting that the Enseada Shipyard was initially owned by a consortium formed by Odebrecht Engenharia Industrial, OAS, and UTC Engenharia. Currently, the industry solely belongs to Odebrecht Engenharia, also a partner of Petrocity in the port construction.
