Record Growth with New Adoptions in the Northeast
2W Ecobank, one of the leading clean energy marketers in Brazil, recorded an impressive growth of 110% in 2023, reaching record levels of migration to the free energy market. This significant advance highlights the potential of the northeastern market, with around 23,000 companies eligible to make this transition.
The Boost of Migration to the Free Market
The free energy market offers companies the opportunity to save money and adopt more sustainable practices. Recently, hotels, clinics, logistics centers, supermarkets, and ceramic companies from different states have been migrating to the free market with 2W, seeking energy savings and alignment with sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.
2W Ecobank has two wind farms in the Northeast, one already in operation in Rio Grande do Norte and another under construction in Ceará, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy sources.

Fortescue announces a radical shift by replacing diesel with a system featuring 1.2 GW of solar energy, 600 MW of wind energy, and up to 5 GWh in batteries, a giant project that could save $100 million per year and transform heavy mining into one of the largest 100% renewable operations in the world by 2028.
Regulatory Changes and Benefits for SMEs
Starting in January 2024, a significant change will allow small and medium enterprises from Group A to migrate to the free energy market, with the possibility of saving up to 35% on their electricity bills. This new scenario offers smaller businesses the same freedom to negotiate prices and supply conditions that large consumers already enjoy.
Companies in the Northeast have been taking advantage of this expansion of the free market. Rodrigo Silveira, Head of Business Development at 2W in the Northeast region, highlights the importance of this transition: “Migration to the free market represents a great opportunity for northeastern consumers, who were previously restricted to the captive market.”
Success Stories and Environmental Impact
Several companies have recently migrated to the free market with 2W, resulting in significant savings and reductions in CO2 emissions. For example, the Coqueiros Express Hotel chain in Alagoas will save R$ 188,000 and prevent the emission of 44 tons of CO2. Similarly, supermarkets and clinics in other states in the Northeast are also embracing the free market for financial and environmental benefits.
Strategy and Vision of 2W Ecobank
2W Ecobank is present in all Brazilian states, not only in the capitals but also in the interior of the Northeast states. Silveira states: “2W does not just sell discounts on company energy bills, but also generates new revenues. Our business is directed to any customer in Group A with spending starting at R$ 10,000 on electricity.”
According to data from CCEE (Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber), 2W Ecobank was the fastest-growing retailer in the country in the last 12 months. In 2023, the company added 603 new customers to its base, growing 152% compared to the previous year.
2W Ecobank is democratizing access to renewable energy in Brazil with innovative and technological solutions. The company offers energy solutions with a digital interface, telemetry, energy efficiency, and financial services, promoting more conscious, clean, and intelligent consumption.
This growth and the adoption of new customers to the free energy market with 2W Ecobank reflect a significant advancement towards a more sustainable and efficient energy future in Brazil.
