Tereos Exported 60 Thousand Tons of VHP Sugar to Asia via Tiplam, with Support from VLI and Logistics Integration through the Southeast Corridor, Boosting the Brazilian Economy.
In July 2024, Tereos completed its most significant export of the 2024/2025 harvest, sending 60 thousand tons of VHP sugar aboard a single ship bound for Asia. This substantial volume had Indonesia as one of the main arrival points, marking a period of intense activity and logistical success.
The loading was carried out at Tiplam, located in São Paulo, in collaboration with VLI, a critical logistics integration through the Southeast Corridor. This operation, promoted by Tereos, stands out as an example of the company’s efficiency and responsiveness to the demands of international markets. With this export, Brazilian economic development was boosted, demonstrating the strength of the Tereos Group in the global scenario.
At the Luiz Antônio Mesquita Integration Terminal (Tiplam), located in the Baixada Santista, a significant operation was completed by Tereos and VLI. Tiplam, owned by the Centro-Atlântica Railway, is a crucial point for the import and export flows of the Southeast Corridor, serving as a vital link for Tereos’ operations.

Operational Expansion in November 2020
In November 2020, Tereos and VLI launched two new sugar warehouses. One of these locations is at Tiplam, with a storage capacity of 115 thousand tons of raw sugar, and the other is located at the Guará Integration Terminal (TIGU) in São Paulo, near several industrial units of the Tereos Group.
This new logistics complex has a total capacity of 160 thousand tons of sugar, significantly expanding the volume of sugar that Tereos moves for export through Tiplam. This increase in the record volume transported demonstrates the continuous expansion of the company’s export capacity, highlighting Tereos’ importance in the sector.
Partnership and Logistics Efficiency
‘This milestone achieved reinforces our ability to meet large international demands and solidifies our partnership with VLI, essential for operations of this magnitude’, comments Gustavo Segantini, commercial director of Tereos. The efficiency of multimodal logistics operations and the strategic presence along the Southeast Corridor allow Tereos to collect sugar in Goiás, Minas Gerais, and São Paulo, moving it quickly, effectively, and safely. This not only adds value to our customers’ business but also boosts Brazilian exports.
Nicolas Szwako, operations director of the Southeast Corridor at VLI, adds that operations align with the goal of supporting the advancement of Brazilian exports.
Future Plans and VHP
For the second half of 2024, Tereos is already preparing to carry out substantial new shipments of VHP (Very High Polarization) sugar to Asia. This type of raw sugar is known for being less moist and darker, usually exported for refinement in international markets.
