The Chinese Manufacturer, IM Motors, Is Developing a New Electric Car Capable of Cleaning Air Pollution While Driving on the Road.
The automaker IM Motors presented its electric car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which was produced with the goal of eliminating air pollution. The intention of the Chinese vehicle manufacturer is to begin production of the vehicle, known as Airo, in 2023, for around £40,000 (R$290,000 in direct conversion) and also plans to manufacture about one million units.

Heatherwick emphasizes that when he was approached by IM Motors in China, he stated that he was not a car designer, and they replied: That’s why we want you.
The electric car, which eliminates air pollution, features a large glass roof and the interior is designed to resemble a living room, with adjustable seats that can transform into beds and a central table intended for meals or meetings. The steering wheel is hidden in the dashboard, and its exterior is completely textured, with a series of bumps and waves.
The Designer’s Inspiration for the Chinese Electric Car

According to Heatherwick, the pandemic created a space crisis, and many people living in apartments and houses need a larger area. With one billion vehicles in the world, there is room for them to become valuable real estate and can become a regular car when being driven.
The designer’s inspiration came from first-class airplane seats, where there is the possibility to sleep, eat, work, and enjoy. The idea was not to be a concept car; thus, the Chinese manufacturer, along with the Briton, is focusing everything on ideas that can happen.
How the Chinese Electric Car Aims to Eliminate Pollution?
According to the designer, automakers are focused on electric vehicles, but a new car should not just have an innovative look. The front grille of the Airo will be equipped with an air filter that will collect a tennis ball worth of pollution per year. It may not seem like much, but what is taken out of the air is what goes into the population’s lungs.
