New RAM Pickup Could Arrive Soon To Revolutionize The Minivan Segment: Seven-Seater Model Patented And Concept Revealed By The Brand.
Whether for its sportiness, practical utility, or a combination of both, pickups are emerging as great substitutes for sedans and SUVs. Now, these trucks also want to “steal” the spot of minivans; at least that is the goal of the new RAM pickup.
Understand The Goal Of The New Seven-Seater Pickup
It happens that recently, the American automaker RAM registered a patent that could indicate the future production of a pickup with three rows of seating. The documentation for the new RAM pickup was published in the official patent register of the U.S. and shows a kind of removable seats at the back of the vehicle.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time the brand has hinted at a seven-seater pickup. Last year, the company presented the RAM 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, which featured a pair of movable chairs very similar to the patent in question, which could put an end to minivan sales. Thus, it seems the brand does not want to leave the idea as just a concept and plans to move it forward, making it a reality within its pickups.

The BYD Tai S Ti7 bets on a boxy design and could become the top-of-the-line model in Brazil with 488 hp, over 70 kgfm of torque, 0 to 100 in 4.9 seconds, 5.1 meters in length, and a range exceeding 900 km.
The published images show compact, almost narrow seats, with versatile functionalities. Apparently, the items can be removed from the interior of the vehicle, thereby freeing up more space inside the truck. Additionally, when removed, the seats have the capacity to be secured both in the bed and in certain parts of the truck’s body.
What Is Necessary For The New RAM Pickup To Be Realized?
However, for the minivans’ luck, it is important to mention that the third row of seating seems to still be a distant reality. This is because the brand’s next launch, the Ram 1500 REV, does not have the extra space inside for the additional seats, as shown in the patent.

Thus, for the new seven-seater pickup to become a reality, the automaker would have to manufacture a design with a larger cabin or with a second row of seats placed further forward. This way, the necessary space for the third row would be “opened up.”
It is also worth noting that, as exciting as the new RAM pickup may seem, the fact that it has been patented does not guarantee that it will become a reality. Many registered items never see the light of day. However, considering that RAM has already patented and presented this concept previously, it seems that the brand is determined to produce a seven-seater pickup capable of competing directly with minivans.
BYD Wants To Revive The Minivan Market?
Although the new RAM pickup may eliminate minivans, BYD is willing to revive the forgotten segment in Brazil. With a touch of luxury, BYD’s proposal brings a vehicle over 5 meters long and over 3 meters in wheelbase. In other words, a true “big car.”
