Volkswagen Tayron: The New Medium SUV That Promises to Shake Up the Brazilian Market Soon. With 272 HP of Power, Modern Design, and Spacious Interior, the Model Combines Impressive Performance with Comfort and Style. Discover What Makes the Tayron One of Volkswagen’s Most Anticipated Bets for the SUV Segment in Brazil.
The Volkswagen Tayron is the new medium SUV from the German brand that was presented at the Paris Motor Show, where it made its first public appearance in the West, having previously appeared at the Beijing Motor Show in April as the Tiguan L Pro. This is a new SUV from Volkswagen China and it will come to Brazil.
Volkswagen Tayron Is Larger Than the Tiguan
According to information, the new medium SUV will be produced at the Anchieta factory in São Bernardo do Campo (SP) in the coming years. The president of the brand, Ciro Possobom, during an event held last Monday (14), confirmed that the new Volkswagen SUV is set to arrive in Brazil, but he did not comment on domestic production.
The Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be one of the 16 new cars that the brand will launch by 2028. Of these, two newcomers will be produced at the Anchieta facility. Both will be larger and hybrid models, built on the MQB platform. The medium SUV fits all these definitions and is intended to replace the Tiguan.

Even though it replaces the Tiguan in several markets, the new Volkswagen SUV is larger and its size is impressive. It measures 4.77 meters in length, 1.85 meters in width, 1.66 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.79 meters. It can accommodate seven seats, making better use of its wheelbase 12 cm longer than that of a Taos.
At the Paris Motor Show, only the five-seat versions were presented. This explains the generous trunk space of 885 liters. In person, the impression is that there is even more space. The same impression is repeated in the rear seat, where even a very tall adult can cross their legs.
New Medium SUV Can Deliver 272 HP
In the French market, the new Volkswagen SUV will have four engine options and will initially be available only with front-wheel drive, although all-wheel-drive versions are available in other markets. The entry-level version is equipped with a 1.5 eTSI engine, combined with a mild hybrid system of 48 Volts, producing 150 horsepower.

There is also a version of the medium SUV with a 2.0 turbo-diesel engine, with the same power output, and two plug-in hybrid options based on the 1.5 eHybrid engine, with outputs of 204 hp and 272 hp. These versions are equipped with a 19.7 kWh battery, offering over 100 kilometers of range in fully electric mode, according to the brand.
This 1.5 eTSI engine is also confirmed for Brazil, but its production in São Carlos (SP) will not begin until 2025. The Nivus GTS, for example, will still be launched with the 1.4 TSI engine with the same 150 hp. In fact, the national Tayron could debut the 1.5 TSI in Brazil.
External and Internal Design of the Volkswagen Tayron
Life on board is also enhanced by the number of high-definition screens. The dashboard of the new Volkswagen SUV features continuous horizontal architecture. The first level has the Digital Cockpit Pro, a digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch screen. The Tayron stands out for its extensive front grille, which combines with elements on the rear bumper, along with an LED lighting system.

In all versions, the VW logo and the top part with two transverse bars of the radiator grille in glass illuminate when the lights are off. The LED transverse bar forms a visually continuous light strip with the LED daytime running lights also arranged transversely in the headlights.
