FPSO Anita Garibaldi – The Strategic Platform of Petrobras for the Revitalization Plan of the Campos Basin, Connecting 43 Oil Wells!
Finally, the FPSO Anita Garibaldi has left the shipyard in China heading to Brazil! Petrobras reported that the platform departed from the DSIC Marine Yard in Dalian, this Thursday (10/06), with destination to Brazil.
The Anita Garibaldi will undergo anchorage testing for about four days and then continue its journey to Brazil.
According to the statement, before arriving at the Campos Basin, the new FPSO will head to the Jurong shipyard in the city of Aracruz (ES), where it will undergo commissioning, regulatory inspections, and operational testing.

Of the FPSO type (floating unit that produces, stores, and transfers oil), the new system will be installed in the Marlim and Voador fields in the Campos Basin (RJ), with production start planned for the third quarter of 2023.
FPSO Will Be Strategic for the Campos Basin Renewal Plan
With the capacity to produce up to 80,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 7 million m³ of gas per day, the new FPSO will be strategic for the Campos Basin Renewal Plan, aimed at renewing mature assets operated by the company in the region.
Note that Petrobras is investing US$ 16 billion in this program, which is part of its Strategic Plan for the period from 2022 to 2026.
The new platform will be connected to 43 wells, with peak production expected in 2026. The Marlim Revitalization Project aims to replace the nine platforms currently operating in the Marlim and Voador fields (P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37, and P-47) with the new FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery – the latter scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2023.
The Campos Basin Accounts for Almost 75% of All Oil Extracted Offshore in Brazil
The revitalization of the Campos Basin is part of the largest program of its kind for mature assets in the global offshore industry. With this, Petrobras expects to add more value to the Marlim and Voador fields, installing the FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery with a combined capacity to produce up to 150,000 barrels per day (bpd). The start of operation for both platforms is scheduled for 2023.
As an international offshore technology hub and the cradle of deep-water production in Brazil, the Campos Basin is responsible for almost 75% of all oil extracted offshore in the country to date. The region has been a pioneer in innovation and will continue to be so for both the decommissioning projects on the radar and for the revitalization of mature concessions operated by new companies in the sector.
