INEL Creates Green Hydrogen Coordination in Ceará Aiming to Boost Market Development in the Northeast Region and Brazil

INEL (National Institute of Clean Energy) announced on April 27 the creation of the Green Hydrogen Coordination in Ceará, with the aim of developing and expanding the Green Hydrogen market in the Northeast region and Brazil.

New Working Group for Green Hydrogen in Ceará

The announcement of the new State Coordination in Ceará was made during the I Paraíba Symposium on Renewable Hydrogen in João Pessoa. The initiative aims to support government levels in establishing regulatory frameworks for the important Green Hydrogen market in the Northeast and Brazil, which has great development potential.

It is worth noting that Engie Brasil also established a partnership with Invest Paraná for the production of green hydrogen and the generation of new jobs recently.

The activities of the state coordination are guided by three main thematic axes: financing Green Hydrogen projects; relationship with regulatory and environmental agents; and the demands of the productive sector of the state of Ceará regarding Green Hydrogen to create ways to boost the development of this industry.

Specialized and Experienced Leadership Team

The Green Hydrogen Coordination of Ceará has the expertise of three executives with relevant professional trajectories in the sector.

Cibele Gaspar brings her experience from the Banco do Nordeste focusing on Project Finance for infrastructure projects. Laíz Hérida, CEO of HL Environmental Solutions, has over 17 years of experience in the sector, concentrating on environmental issues related to already announced projects at the Port of Pecém.

Silla Motta, CEO of Donna Lamparina, has more than 25 years of experience in the Electric Sector, working as a consultant in Renewable Energies for large corporate clients.

Support and Integration with INEL

The work of the Green Hydrogen Coordination of Ceará will be supported by the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Green Hydrogen at INEL, Luiz Piauhylino Filho and Frederico Freitas, respectively. They will have the role of establishing communication channels between the demands of the state and the articulations that INEL is already developing with the Executive Branch and Congress in Brasília.

The new coordination aims to get closer to all state agents in Ceará who are making efforts for the projects announced at the Port of Pecém.

This market is so promising that even Germany signed a memorandum of understanding with the Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil for the supply of green hydrogen to the European country.

I Paraíba Symposium on Renewable Hydrogen

The event sponsored by the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) had national reach and focused on the market, economy, and regulation sectors. It featured the presence of authorities, such as the governor of the state João Azevêdo (PSB), and leaders from the energy and scientific sectors.
