General Motors (GM), one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers, announced that it will make a significant investment of around R$ 300 million in its factory located in Joinville. This investment is part of a broader plan announced by the company earlier this year, involving a total of R$ 7 billion directed towards various initiatives in Brazil.
Investments and Transformations by 2028
The R$ 300 million allocated to the Joinville factory will be applied over the next four years, until 2028.
This period will be marked by a comprehensive transformation of the plant, which specializes in the production of cylinder heads, blocks, and 1.0 and 2.0 engines for popular vehicles, such as the Onix, Onix Plus, and Tracker.

The Joinville factory was inaugurated 11 years ago and has played a crucial role in the production of engines for popular vehicles since then.
To date, the facility has produced over 1.6 million engines, demonstrating its significant impact on GM’s global operations.
In terms of recognition, the Joinville factory has stood out for its commitment to sustainability.
It was the first unit in the South American automotive industry to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification in the Gold category.
This certificate is one of the most respected international certifications for sustainable construction, attesting to the factory’s commitment to responsible and efficient environmental practices.
