The City Hall of Anápolis and Equatorial Goiás will raffle 60 new refrigerators for families of Residential Copacabana through the E+ New Refrigerator project. Registration takes place from April 14 to 16 at CRAS Sul, the raffle will be on the 16th at 6pm, and the exchange of old refrigerators for new ones takes place on April 17.

Sixty families from Residential Copacabana in Anápolis will have the chance to exchange their old refrigerator for a new one this week. The City Hall of Anápolis, through the Municipal Department of Assistance and Social Policies, opened registration on Tuesday (14) for the raffle of 60 new refrigerators in partnership with Equatorial Goiás. This action is part of the E+ New Refrigerator project, which promotes the replacement of used refrigerators with new appliances, and registration must be done on April 14, 15, and 16, from 9am to 11am and from 1pm to 4pm, at CRAS Sul, located at Rua Copa, No. 23, next to Feirão Reny Cury.

To compete for a new refrigerator, the resident must meet specific requirements. It is necessary to be the account holder of the electricity bill or prove a connection to the property, be registered in the Social Tariff or have a summary sheet from CadÚnico, have a residential or rural account without debts with Equatorial, and have an old functioning refrigerator for the exchange. Damaged equipment, freezers, or mini-fridges will not be accepted. The raffle for the 60 refrigerators will take place on April 16 at 6pm at the Feirão next to CRAS Sul, and the exchange of appliances will happen the following day.

Who can participate in the refrigerator raffle at Residential Copacabana

The E+ New Refrigerator project has clear participation criteria. The first requirement is that the interested party must be the account holder of the electricity bill for the property where they live in Residential Copacabana. If the bill is not in the resident’s name, it is necessary to present documents that prove a connection to the property, such as a rental agreement, deed, property registration, purchase and sale contract, or a residence declaration signed by the account holder with notarized signature.

Another option for those who have the bill in someone else’s name is to change the account holder with Equatorial before registering for the refrigerator. In addition to the account holder requirement, the resident must be registered in the Social Tariff for electricity or have the summary sheet from CadÚnico, which ensures that the benefit is directed to low-income families. The electricity bill must be up to date, with no outstanding debts with the distributor. Those with overdue amounts can take advantage of the service event happening on the same days as registration to negotiate debts.

How the exchange of the old refrigerator for the new one works

The refrigerator exchange process is straightforward. The residents drawn on April 16 must appear on the 17th, from 8 AM to 9 AM, at the event location to deliver the old refrigerator and receive the new one, on a first-come, first-served basis. The delivery of the old appliance is mandatory: there is no possibility of receiving the new refrigerator without returning the used one. This requirement is part of the project’s logic, which aims to replace inefficient equipment that consumes more energy.

An important point is that the old refrigerator must be functioning. Broken appliances, freezers, and mini-fridges are not accepted in the program, which means that the draw does not include those who are without a refrigerator or only have damaged equipment. The justification is that the project aims to reduce electricity consumption by replacing old refrigerators, which generally use much more electricity than new models. A refrigerator over ten years old can consume up to three times more energy than a current model with an energy efficiency label.

What else happens during the service mutirão in Anápolis

The refrigerator draw is the main attraction, but the mutirão offers other services that can benefit the residents of Residencial Copacabana. During the days of April 14, 15, and 16, from 9 AM to 11 AM and from 1 PM to 4 PM, the population will have access to light bulb exchanges, registration and updates for the Social Tariff, debt negotiation with Equatorial, and registration updates with the energy distributor. All services are free and take place at the same location as the registration for the refrigerator draw.

The light bulb exchange is another practical benefit. Replacing incandescent or fluorescent bulbs with LED models reduces energy consumption and the electricity bill, an immediate gain that does not depend on a draw. For families registered in the Social Tariff, the registration update is essential to maintain the discount on the electricity bill, and the mutirão facilitates this process by bringing all services together in one location, preventing residents from having to travel to Equatorial agencies in other parts of the city.

Step by step to register and compete for a new refrigerator

For those living in Residencial Copacabana who want to participate, the path is clear. The first step is to go to CRAS Sul, at Rua Copa, No. 23, next to the Reny Cury Fair, on April 14, 15, or 16, during the service hours from 9 AM to 11 AM or from 1 PM to 4 PM. It is necessary to bring an identity document, CPF, proof of residence, an up-to-date electricity bill in the name of the account holder, and a summary sheet of CadÚnico or proof of registration in the Social Tariff.

Those who do not have the electricity bill in their own name must also bring a document that proves their connection to the property. After registration, just wait for the draw on April 16 at 6 PM at the Fair next to CRAS Sul. The selected individuals will receive instructions on the refrigerator exchange procedure, which will take place on April 17 starting at 8 AM. The recommendation is to arrive early, as service will be on a first-come, first-served basis. For the winners, the old refrigerator must be ready to be removed from the property at the time of exchange.

Sixty new refrigerators will be raffled off to families in the Copacabana Residential area in Anápolis. Have you ever participated in a refrigerator exchange program? Do you think this type of action should be expanded to more neighborhoods? Leave your opinion in the comments.
