Thus, the main objective of the works is to provide a more efficient connection between the main federal roads in the region, such as BR-116, BR-020, and BR-222, and to facilitate the transportation of goods between the ports of Pecém and Mucuripe.
Governor Elmano de Freitas emphasized the importance of the Ring Road for the movement of goods and the daily lives of citizens in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza.
“The project is crucial to ensure the comfort and safety of Cearans”, stated Elmano.
Description of Services in the Works
The investment for the works on the Ring Road of Fortaleza includes a series of improvements along a stretch of 32.30 km.
The planned services include the completion of the restoration of 6.2 km of the main lanes of CE-010, the paving of 21.2 km of the shoulder and 6.1 km of safety lanes, in addition to the paving of 28.7 km of bike paths.
The execution of ramps at the intersections with CE-060 and CE-065, the construction of accesses to the Nova Metrópole Set, and the implementation of nine return points along the stretch, including drainage systems and signaling, are also on the agenda.
Impact of the Works on the Community
For residents of the area, such as artisan Delbus Andrade, who traverses the Ring Road daily for work, the investment for the works and future improvements are highly anticipated.
Andrade, who lives in Pacatuba and travels to the Central Supply of Ceará in Maracanaú to collect recyclable materials, commented: “We have been waiting for these improvements for a long time. Especially those who ride bicycles, because there have been many accidents. I believe it will improve a lot.”
Partnership and History
The agreement that enabled the investment involved collaboration from the Ministry of Transport, which transferred resources to the Ministry of Cities.
Governor Elmano de Freitas explained that there was an impasse between 2016 and 2022, when responsibility for the work was transferred from the Federal Government to the State, resulting in significant delays.
Only with the return of President Lula and the support of Ministers Renan Filho (Transport) and Jader Filho (Cities) was it possible to resume and conclude the agreement.
Eduardo Praça, special advisor to the Ministry of Transport, mentioned other structural works for the region, such as the duplication of BR-222, which is expected to be completed later this year.
“The duplication will complement the Ring Road, connecting the Pecém Port to the Mucuripe Port”, he highlighted.
The superintendent of Public Works, Valdeci Rebouças, also commented on the importance of the investment for local development. “The completion of the works is essential for the safety and economic growth of the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza”, he concluded.
