While logistical challenges directly impact the economy and quality of life, Mato Grosso do Sul is preparing for a significant leap in 2025.
Under the watchful eye of the federal government, two major projects have been defined as top priorities: the completion of part of BR-419 and the construction of the ring road in Três Lagoas.

A Santa Catarina city, famous for its millionaire square meter, will deliver over a thousand homes with installments ranging from R$ 80 to R$ 400, and families receiving Bolsa Família may be fully exempt from payment.
According to the text of the Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) of 2025, recently sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, these works have been officially included among the priority actions for the coming year.
Both are already underway, but now receive strategic momentum for their completion.
The LDO, which should have been approved by the National Congress in the first semester, guides the annual budget planning and sets essential goals for the country’s development.
BR-419: A New Logistics Corridor
BR-419 is a strategic highway for Mato Grosso do Sul, connecting vital regions of the State and promoting the flow of products, the transportation of people, and even tourism.
The priority stretch starts from Rio Verde and goes to Aquidauana, where the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) has already begun the works.
With part of the road already paved, the project advances toward Aquidauana. The highway stands out as an efficient alternative to link the northern part of the State to the western region, eliminating the need to travel along BRs 163 and 262.
In addition, BR-419 crosses areas close to the Pantanal, such as Rio Negro and the district of Taboco, further enhancing its tourist and logistical potential.
Recently, DNIT launched a bidding process to create a junction on BR-163, near Rio Verde, where BR-419 begins.
In 2022, the federal government delivered 52.5 kilometers of paved highway up to Rio Negro, including the construction of ten bridges.
This year, the works advanced with the inclusion of a new access to the city of Aquidauana and the connection to near the Funrural Hospital.
The final goal, although not foreseen in the LDO of 2025, is to extend the paving to the city of Jardim, passing through municipalities such as Nioaque.
This extension promises to strengthen integration between the regions of the State, boosting both the economy and tourism.
Três Lagoas Ring Road: A Solution for Heavy Traffic
Another essential project highlighted in the LDO of 2025 is the ring road of Três Lagoas.
With 26.4 kilometers in length, the work is designed to remove heavy traffic from the urban perimeter, easing circulation in the municipality that connects Mato Grosso do Sul to the State of São Paulo via the bridge over the Paraná River.
The ring road project began to take shape in 2012, with feasibility studies, analyses of segments that would require bridges and overpasses, and the expropriation of areas, as reported by the website Perfilnews.
The work includes three overpasses, three level crossings, and one bridge, with an estimated investment of R$ 200 million in federal resources.
The infrastructure connects BRs 158 and 262, allowing the continuous flow of light and heavy vehicles without compromising mobility within the city.
Residents have been waiting years for the completion of the project, which promises to directly benefit transportation and regional logistics.

Other Mentions in the LDO of 2025
In addition to the works on BR-419 and the ring road of Três Lagoas, the LDO of 2025 also cites other projects in Mato Grosso do Sul.
Among them, the sale of two urban lots from the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra) in Corumbá and the concession of the West Network of the railway, currently unused, are highlighted.
The West Network, which connects Mato Grosso do Sul to São Paulo, has its contract valid until July 2026.
However, there are ongoing discussions in the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) about the possibility of renegotiating the contract, following the model already authorized for BR-163, another highway mentioned in the LDO.
Planning and Execution
The details of the actions planned by the Union are included in the Annual Budget Law (LOA) project, which should have been voted on before the parliamentary recess, but has been postponed to February 2025.
The expected revenues for the next year are R$ 5.87 trillion, reinforcing the federal government’s commitment to investments in infrastructure and regional development.
Reflections on the Economy and Quality of Life
These infrastructure projects promise to transform Mato Grosso do Sul, consolidating the State as one of Brazil’s main logistical axes.
In addition to facilitating the transportation of goods and reducing operational costs, the works are expected to generate jobs, boost tourism, and improve urban mobility.
With significant federal investments and strategic planning, the government seeks to meet long-standing demands from the population and open new growth opportunities.
The completion of these works will be a milestone for the State, reaffirming its importance on the national stage.
And you, what do you think about these priorities for Mato Grosso do Sul? How can these highway works impact the development of the State and the lives of the residents? Leave your opinion in the comments!
