The Government of MS Allocates R$ 26.89 Million for Two Road Accesses to Arauco’s Plant, Aiming for Efficient Logistics in the Sucuriú Project in Inocência.
The government of Mato Grosso do Sul signed a contract for R$ 26.89 million to build and pave two road accesses on the MS-377 highway, between Três Lagoas and Inocência, in the eastern part of the State. The initiative aims to provide direct logistical support to the Sucuriú Project, from Arauco do Brasil, a mega-investment in the cellulose sector, with an execution period of up to 360 days.
This action shows why the government of MS considers it essential to adapt the infrastructure to maximize the economic and productive benefits of the project.
Logistics Strengthened with Specific Accesses
The contract, signed by Agesul (State Agency for Enterprise Management), provides for two accesses interconnected to the MS-377 highway.

Instead of demolishing old coal warehouses, London doubled their roofs until they met in the center and created one of the most curious renovations in King’s Cross.
The first, at km 94, will be a “trumpet” type, with acceleration and deceleration lanes, ideal for heavy vehicles.
The second access, at km 97, will have an elongated roundabout shape, enhancing traffic flow.
These accesses aim to prevent congestion, ensure safety, and improve cargo transportation to Arauco’s plant.
Arauco: Size, Production, and Expected Jobs
The Sucuriú Project, the venture of Arauco, has a billion-dollar value and ambitious scale: over US$ 4.6 billion in investment, with initial production estimated at 3.5 million tons of cellulose per year, with room for expansion.
At the peak of the works, the forecast is to generate over 14,000 jobs; once in permanent operation, about 6,000 direct jobs are expected.
Strategic Importance for MS
Inocência, the municipality where Arauco’s plant will be built, is in a strategic location.
The region, known as the Cellulose Valley, connects extensive areas for eucalyptus planting to major highways and export routes, such as the ports of Santos (SP) and Paranaguá (PR).
The improvement of accesses on the MS-377 will facilitate the flow of raw materials and final products, strengthening the competitiveness of MS in the forestry sector.
Deadlines, Challenges, and Logistical Impact
The government of MS predicts that the work will be completed in 360 consecutive days after the start order.
The contract includes modern intersection devices to ensure safety and a technical design that prioritizes high-level logistical performance.
The state secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Guilherme Alcântara, stated:
“The paving of these accesses to Arauco’s plant represents more than infrastructure: it reflects our policy of anticipating the demands of the productive sector.”
For him, the accesses do not only connect geographical points: “…, we are designing solutions that absorb growth with safety and operational predictability.”
With the accesses ready, the government and Arauco hope that the plant will operate efficiently from the start.
The investment in road infrastructure prevents logistical bottlenecks, reduces transportation costs, and increases safety in traffic where large trucks circulate.
Thus, the Sucuriú Project reinforces the role of MS as an industrial and export hub in the cellulose sector.
The initiative of the government of Mato Grosso do Sul to invest in road accesses for Arauco’s Sucuriú Project shows a clear strategy: it is not enough to attract large undertakings; it is essential to structure the logistical base for them to operate well.
With R$ 26.89 million allocated and deadlines defined, MS is moving forward to consolidate the Cellulose Valley as a benchmark for economic development and job creation.
