Public Call Will Select Companies for Installation of New Floating Solar Plants at Billings Reservoir in São Paulo
The Government of the State of São Paulo, through Emae, opened a public call last Tuesday, October 6, for the selection of companies interested in installing floating solar plants at Billings Reservoir in the city of São Paulo. 600 job openings available TOMORROW (09/10) by Ita Transportes Aéreos for various areas in RJ, SP and DF

Billings Reservoir is one of the largest and most important water reservoirs in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, covering an area of 10,700 hectares of water surface.
Proposals for power generation plants with capacities ranging from 1 MWp to 30 MWp will be presented at four pre-established locations in Billings, and after reviewing the submitted documents, Emae will select the best proposals with the possibility of implementation by qualified companies. Applications for the bidding must be submitted by December 9, directly on Emae’s website.

The floating solar plants can be operated until the end of the concession for the Henry Borden complex, which will occur on 31/11/2042 or another period to be defined by Aneel, if an extension of the concession is made, explains Emae.
Floating Solar Plants in Brazil
In Brazil, floating photovoltaic plants are still not prominent, with highlights being the projects at the Sobradinho hydropower plant in Bahia and the Cristalina farm in Goiás, carried out with the participation of Sunlution. However, the technology over water has already been implemented in countries like Japan, China, and Singapore.
Brazil already hosts an additional 1 MW floating solar plant at Sobradinho dam, a hydropower center of 175 MW on the São Francisco River, in Sobradinho, Bahia.
Floating solar energy is a great alternative in Brazil, as the components, as well as the placement of floating structures, can help reduce water evaporation from storage tanks currently being tested, in addition to increasing electricity supply during dry periods.
In the same vein, Furnas Centrais Elétricas is also studying the best way to implement solar and wind energies at the Itumbiara Hydroelectric Plant on the Paranaíba River, the largest plant in the Furnas System, located between the municipalities of Itumbiara in Goiás and Araporã in Minas Gerais. The idea is to install a photovoltaic solar power generation system around and in the reservoir of the plant.
