The Inauguration of Honda’s New Factory in Amazonas
According to the company, with the relief that vaccination against Covid is causing in the pandemic scenario, the projections are optimistic for the two-wheeled sector. During the health crisis, Moto Honda had to grant collective vacations to employees and even a temporary suspension of production at its factory in the state of Amazonas.
“This factory inauguration does not necessarily mean job creation right now, because we are at an economic moment where we are seeking stability in production volume. The economic indicators still do not point to solidity for future volumes. So, at the moment, we are not increasing the number of job positions, but we are maintaining and recovering,” he states.

The Governor of Amazonas Highlighted the Importance of the Company in the State
Governor Wilson Lima participated in the celebrations for the 45th anniversary of the inauguration of the Moto Honda factory in the Manaus Free Trade Zone. He highlighted the importance of the company for job creation and for the environment. The anniversary program included the inauguration of another phase of the R$ 500 million investment plan announced by the company for the Manaus plant.
The president of Honda in South America, Atsushi Fujimoto, and executive advisor, Issao Mizoguchi, attended the factory inauguration event. “This is an important date because Honda is celebrating 45 years and it is a story intertwined with the history of the Manaus Free Trade Zone. It is a company that today employs more than seven thousand people, and every time this happens, we see a reduction in pressure on the forest, fulfilling a very basic and essential role in our society, which is job and income generation,” said the governor.
At the ceremony, Wilson Lima emphasized that the State is working to ensure security for companies in the Manaus Industrial Hub and to attract new investments. “We are already working in the final phase of extending our tax incentive law. It is a law that expires in 2023, but we need to foresee an extension to provide the necessary guarantee to those in the state of Amazonas and also attract new enterprises, such as factories and plants, as is happening with some companies that are starting to settle in our state and others that are expanding their operations, such as Honda, which is expanding its factory here,” said the governor.
