Honda is undertaking a wide restructuring of its industrial operation in Brazil, starting a selection process for hiring 350 new employees meant for the second production shift at its factories in Itirapina and Sumaré, both located in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
This measure is part of the robust investment plan of R$ 4.2 billion, announced by the company in 2024, which aims to expand production capacity, stimulate job creation, and introduce relevant technological advances in the national automotive sector.
The start of the selection process is scheduled for July, with admissions planned between September and October 2025.

The new professionals will undergo a training period focused on the updated technologies and industrial processes of the brand.
Of this total, 250 positions will be allocated to the Itirapina unit, responsible for assembling the Honda vehicles sold in the country, while 100 positions will be for the Sumaré factory, specialized in engine production, injection processes, and plastic painting, in addition to toolmaking.

Production Expansion and Increase in Positions
As disclosed by the automaker, the second production shift in both units had been operating partially since April 2024.
Now, with the reinforcement of the new hires, the company projects that both shifts will be fully operational starting December 2025.
This advance will allow Honda to increase 20% per year in vehicle production volume, responding to the growing demand in the Brazilian market, especially with the launch of the New WR-V.
New WR-V and Hybrid Technology e:HEV
The national production of the New WR-V represents a strategic milestone for Honda Automobiles of Brazil, especially in a scenario of transformation in the automotive industry, marked by the adoption of more sustainable technologies.
The model will feature a 1.5-liter engine with direct injection, similar to the one applied in the current City, City Hatchback, and HR-V, in addition to the hybrid e:HEV option, which combines energy efficiency and performance, a feature increasingly valued by Brazilian consumers.
The arrival of hybrid flex technology reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability.

Itirapina and Sumaré Factories: Strategic Hubs
Since 2022, the Itirapina unit has concentrated all Honda automobile production in Brazil, consolidating itself as a strategic industrial hub.
On the other hand, the Sumaré factory, inaugurated in the 1990s and the site of the brand’s national production start, maintains a relevant role, focusing on engine manufacturing and the integration of high-precision industrial processes.
The energy supply for operations is entirely sourced from clean energy, coming from the Honda Energy wind farm, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which sets the brand apart in sustainability among major manufacturers established in Brazil.
Investments, Jobs, and Impact on the Automotive Sector
In addition to technological advancements in the production line, the investment plan announced by Honda aims to strengthen its presence in the national market, expand the portfolio of offered models, and promote the development of innovative solutions for urban mobility.
The company has been focusing on hybrid technologies, aligned with global demands for reducing emissions and fossil fuel consumption, in addition to investing in professional training programs aimed at qualifying the local workforce.
According to Arata Ichinose, President of Honda Automobiles of Brazil, the consolidation of the second shift is yet another fundamental step within the company’s growth plan in the country.
“The completion of the second production shift represents another important step in our investment plan and reinforces our confidence and commitment to Brazil and Brazilians, with the jobs we create and the innovations we bring to the market,” the executive stated.

New WR-V: Launch Expectations and Job Creation Opportunities
The arrival of the New WR-V in the Brazilian market is scheduled for November 2025, marking the national debut of the new generation of the SUV.
With the expectation of increasing the brand’s share in the sports utility segment, Honda bets on differentiators such as the adoption of the 1.5-liter engine with direct injection, associated with the efficiency of e:HEV hybrid technology.
The expansion of the assembly line will be crucial to meet demand and ensure the continuous supply of the new model throughout the national territory.
Honda, Jobs, and Industrial Innovation
With the hiring of 350 new employees, Honda also reinforces its social and economic role in São Paulo, a region that concentrates a significant portion of the Brazilian automotive industrial park.
The increase in the workforce will contribute to income generation, stimulate the local economy, and strengthen the productive ecosystem, in addition to providing new job opportunities in strategic sectors.
The productive restructuring is part of a trend observed among the major automakers established in Brazil, which have sought to adapt their processes to the new market demands and the challenges posed by the global energy transition.
Investment in technology, sustainability, and professional training emerges as a competitive differential for companies aiming to remain relevant amid the advance of vehicle electrification and the demands of consumers increasingly attentive to the efficiency and environmental impact of automobiles.
