Huawei overtakes Apple and returns to the market with premium smartphones. Find out how the Chinese brand promises to turn things around and surpass Apple in sales.
Huawei beats Apple with a triumphant return to the premium smartphone market. The recent launch of the Mate 70 was yet another sign of the ambition of a manufacturer that seemed doomed but has turned the tables in spectacular fashion. The new top-of-the-line phones, along with the foldable Mate X6, stand out for their remarkable design and specifications.
Huawei overtakes Apple with the arrival of its new operating system
Premium cell phones will feature an OLED panel, 5.300 mAh battery and a new set of cameras that promise a lot. However, the big difference lies elsewhere.
The new operating system for these terminals, called Harmony OS NEXT, says goodbye to dependence on Android. In other words, Huawei is definitively separating its path from Google, which is a real turning point for the future of its smartphones.

It all started with the Mate 60 Pro. This version succeeded the controversial Mate 60 that attracted so much attention last year. Analysts did not quite understand how Huawei managed to get an advanced chip for these devices given the restrictions imposed by the trade conflict between the US and China in the technology sector.
Huawei vs Apple and the new Mate 70 has strengthened the brand's prominence as a reference in the high-end range in China. According to CNN, the company's market share in premium phones above US$600 increased from 11% in the third quarter of 2022 to 33% in the same period of 2024.
Better understand the brand's return with premium cell phones
In this way, Huawei, which dominated this sector in China, however, in the same period its situation went in the opposite direction. Its percentage was previously 72% in the third quarter of 2022, and in the same period of 2024 it is 52%. It is still a great share, but if this pace continues, Apple's dominance could change drastically in the coming years.
What is happening with Huawei is fundamentally due to its success in China, where the brand has apparently become a true case of national overcoming. The veto of Google tax in 2019 seemed to mean the death of a smartphone division, but the company managed to reverse the situation, focusing on the Chinese market and freeing itself from the dependencies that previously tied it to American companies. The result is visible and the brand is once again shining in premium cell phones, at least in China.
New operating system can run Android apps
Launched with the idea of being an operating system that is completely independent from Android, HarmonyOS Next caught the public's attention after running applications from the rival system. According to reports from beta users, despite having a completely unique language and a series of differences compared to Google's Android, the launch of an emulator completely changed the scenario.
Listed on the AppGallery store, “EzsyAbroad” is an Android emulator that allows you to install any system application within HarmonyOS Next. The new feature was discovered this weekend.
To make everything work almost natively, the app has a separate container for Android apps. This way, when the app is installed, it allows you to download YouTube, Google Maps and others through a specific store.
An essential detail is that the emulator creates shortcuts to these Android apps on the operating system's home screen, even allowing them to run in the background and send notifications like native system apps.
How do I buy one of these phones?
But aren't the Chinese ****, synonymous with decadence and poverty?
