IFBA Opens Enrollment Until April 16 for Free Technical Course Vacancies in Bahia
The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia (IFBA) is offering 2,997 vacancies for free technical courses in 22 cities in Bahia. According to IFBA, 1,589 vacancies are for integrated courses (high school integrated with vocational training), 1,358 vacancies for courses (vocational training for those who have completed high school), and 50 vacancies for Concurrent courses (vocational training concurrently with high school from another institution).

Students in the free courses can choose up to two course options from the same form at the campus of their choice. In Salvador, 460 vacancies are open through IFBA. In southern Bahia, there are 40 vacancies available in Ubaitaba, and 90 vacancies for food technician, biofuels technician, and information technology technician courses in the city of Porto Seguro.
Enrollment Process
When enrolling in the free courses, students who have not yet obtained their school report on time may submit a school report declaration signed by the school representative according to the model available in the notice or a “school certificate” that must include grades and the full name of the candidate (on letterhead, stamped, and signed by the school representative) or a set of report cards (on letterhead, stamped, and signed by the school); however, the student’s school report will be mandatory at the time of enrollment.

IFBA will analyze the grades from the 6th, 7th, and 8th years of elementary school for the Integrated and Concurrent Courses; and from the 1st and 2nd years of high school for the Subsequent Courses. Grades that are not in numerical format must be reported according to the guidelines in the annex of the notice, in the equivalence table of concepts and grades.
IFBA has reserved 50% of the vacancies in the free courses for candidates who studied in public schools, with socioeconomic criteria (divided between gross family income equal to or less than 1.5 minimum wage per capita and gross family income above 1.5 minimum wage per capita) and ethnic-racial criteria (candidates who self-declare as black, brown, or indigenous). There are also reserved vacancies in the free courses for candidates with disabilities.
