IFMS Opens 1,840 Slots in Free Technical Courses for 2026. Selection Will Be by Exam. Opportunities in 10 Cities in MS for Those Who Completed Elementary School.
The Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) opened on Monday (5) the registration for the selection process of 1,840 slots in free technical courses integrated with high school. The opportunities are for the start of the first academic semester of 2026, with offerings in 10 municipalities in the state.
Registrations can be made between August 11 and October 8, 2025, exclusively online, on the IFMS website. The fee is R$ 20, with an option for exemption for low-income candidates from the public network. The selection will be made through an objective exam.
Slots Distributed in 10 Municipalities in the State
The slots in technical courses are distributed across IFMS units located in Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Corumbá, Coxim, Dourados, Jardim, Naviraí, Nova Andradina, Ponta Porã, and Três Lagoas.

The available courses have an average duration of three years and are offered in the format integrated with high school. That is, the student takes, in the same shift, both general education and technical subjects, with the right to professional certification at the end of the course.
Courses Offered by the Federal Institute
IFMS offers training in areas such as Administration, Agriculture, Food, Agriculture, Systems Development, Construction, Electrotechnics, Computer Science, Internet Computer Science, Mechanics, and Metallurgy.
The courses are free, with an educational structure aimed at insertion into the job market or continuity of studies in higher education. IFMS emphasizes that integrated courses are an opportunity for access to quality public education, with technical and citizenship training.
Who Can Register for the Selection Process
To apply, the student must have completed the 9th grade of elementary school by the date of enrollment, scheduled for January 2026. Additionally, it is required that the candidate has an individual CPF, according to the rules established in the notice.
Registration must be done online at the IFMS website, and the payment of the fee can be made via Pix, credit card, or bank slip until October 9.
Exemption from the Registration Fee
The Federal Institute grants exemption from the registration fee to students who completed all of elementary school in public schools—urban or rural—or who are registered in CadÚnico. The deadline to request the exemption is until September 25, 2025.
To obtain the benefit, it is necessary to present documents that prove the candidate’s socioeconomic condition, as detailed in the selection process notice.
Quota System of IFMS
Of the total available slots, 50% are reserved for candidates who completed elementary school entirely in public schools. This percentage includes quotas for individuals with a per capita family income of up to a minimum wage, in addition to Black, Brown, Indigenous, quilombolas, and people with disabilities.
The reserved slots follow the affirmative action policy of IFMS, based on federal legislation, and seek to ensure equal access to free technical education in Mato Grosso do Sul.
How the Selection of Candidates Will Be Made
The selection process of IFMS will be conducted through an objective exam, consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions, distributed among the areas of Portuguese Language, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
The exam will be applied in-person in all cities offering courses. The classification will be based on the candidate’s performance and the competition category, with separate lists for quota holders and general competition.
The slots will be filled by the best-ranked candidates in each category. The call for enrollment will be made in January 2026.
Technical Education with Citizenship Training
IFMS emphasizes that the integrated technical courses aim to prepare the student for both the job market and life in society, with ethical, scientific, and critical training.
In addition to the technical workload, students have access to common core subjects, such as History, Geography, Physics, Biology, English, and others, for a complete high school education.
All courses are offered in a face-to-face, free format with continuous pedagogical support. The Institute also provides student assistance programs, psychological support, and scholarships for participation in research, extension, and innovation projects.
