IFMS Closes Applications for Free Language Courses in 4 Days and Opens 318 Opportunities in MS
The free courses in Spanish, English, and Libras offered by the IFMS are entering the countdown and will close applications on November 19, a deadline that keeps many candidates alert because the opportunities cover seven municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul and start in the 1st semester of 2026.
Classes will take place on the campuses of Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Corumbá, Coxim, Naviraí, Ponta Porã, and Três Lagoas, in a fully in-person format, which ensures more contact with teachers and direct practice of the language, a factor that explains why demand grows every semester.
The Federal Institute emphasizes that the process is simple and can therefore be completed online by anyone interested. Additionally, applications for the courses cater to beginners as well as students who already have prior knowledge, allowing each candidate to progress according to their real level of language proficiency.

Free Language Courses at IFMS: How the Training Stages Work
The free courses are divided into two main stages. First, the student goes through the basic module, which consists of levels I, II, and III. Then, they move on to the intermediate module, which includes levels IV, V, and VI.
Each stage lasts three semesters, facilitating continuous learning and ensuring adequate time for practice and evolution in the chosen language.
At the end, students receive a national certification of linguistic competence, a document recognized throughout the country that adds value to their resume. Thus, IFMS reinforces its role as one of the most relevant public institutions when it comes to free language training.
Opportunities Are Expanded, But 75% of Spots Are Reserved for IFMS Students
Although there are opportunities open to the general public, at least 75% of the spots are reserved for students and staff of the institution, as stipulated by IFMS’ Internationalization Policy.
Still, the remaining spots usually attract a large volume of candidates, especially because they are completely free and offer structured training with specialized teachers in each language.
On the other hand, those without internet access are not left out: all campuses provide computers in the Relationship Center to ensure that no one misses the deadline.
IFMS Announces Essential Dates for Registration, Placement Test, and Start of Classes
IFMS will publish the preliminary list of registrants and the call for the placement test on November 21. The placement test, mandatory only for candidates in ongoing classes, will take place online between November 24 and December 1.
The test determines the appropriate entry level. However, those who do not achieve the minimum performance may compete for spots in Basic I, provided there is availability.
The results of the placement test and the preliminary list of eligible candidates for the draw will be announced on December 8. Following that, the electronic draw is scheduled for December 12, a stage that determines who will advance to enrollment.
Here is the sentence completely rewritten in active voice, clearer, more direct, and with natural transitions:
IFMS will announce the first call for enrollment on December 19, and selected candidates will complete the online procedure between January 12 and 16, 2026. If there are still spots available, the institute will open a second call between January 26 and 30.
The free language courses will start on February 9, 2026, at the seven participating campuses.
