Toyota’s factory in Porto Feliz has been completely demolished after a windstorm, and rebuilding from scratch changes the engine plan until 2028.
This was also an important move for the Campos Basin project, as it marked the beginning of phase 2 of Peregrino, which aims to extend the field’s useful production until the end of 2040.
Additionally, Equinor’s project also aims to add between 250 and 300 million barrels of oil to the field, as well as halve carbon emissions during production.
In this way, the offshore company will not only secure its growth in the national market but also contribute to greater sustainability in its operations.
The Executive Vice President of Projects, Drilling & Procurement at Equinor, Geir Tungesvik, commented on the start of production at the Peregrino C platform and stated that this was a significant advancement for the company.
This is because the COVID-19 pandemic delayed many of the oil company’s projects, including the Campos Basin project, which is now back on track full force.
He also emphasized that the project was not only delivered but also completed with excellence in the areas of safety and sustainability.
Phase 2 of the Peregrino Project Brings More Optimism to the Company Following the Start of Operations at the Offshore Peregrino C Platform
In addition to the Peregrino C platform, Equinor aims to leverage phase 2 of the Peregrino project to include new wells in the field, as well as build a new gas pipeline bringing gas to the platform for energy generation.
To develop its project in the coming years, the company plans to create over 350 job vacancies in the national offshore sector, as well as other job positions in the onshore sector.
“The start of phase 2 of Peregrino is an important milestone in Equinor’s growth strategy in Brazil. This project shows how we can bring valuable new resources into production while investing in technology to reduce carbon emissions,” said the Executive Vice President of Exploration & International Production at Equinor, Al Cook.
He further complemented his remarks by highlighting the increase in productivity of the Campos Basin with the new Peregrino C platform.
“I am proud that phase 2 of Peregrino will increase the field’s production to 110,000 barrels per day at the production plateau,” the executive concluded.
