The document signed with Orgonew at Casa d’Agronômica, in Florianópolis, is a Memorandum of Understanding with a two-year term, a stage prior to construction: the investment is planned for the next 12 to 24 months and the city that will receive the unit has not yet been disclosed by the government.
The announcement took place on the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Casa d’Agronômica, the official residence of the government of Santa Catarina, in Florianópolis. According to the official release from the State Department of Finance, Governor Jorginho Mello, accompanied by Vice-Governor Marilisa Boehm, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian company Orgonew, specialized in nanotechnology applied to agribusiness, formalizing the establishment of an industrial unit in Santa Catarina territory, during the first official visit of the Indian ambassador to Brazil, Dinesh Bhatia, to the state.
The reason for the choice, according to the government itself, is the strength of Santa Catarina in animal protein. The investment planned by the Indian company is R$ 35 million over the next 12 to 24 months to install a factory for nanotechnology solutions aimed at animal nutrition, with an estimated generation of about 100 direct jobs in the first phase of operation, according to the numbers released by the Department of Finance. The initial focus is the Brazilian market, with a perspective of expansion to all of Latin America.
What the Indian company’s factory will produce in Santa Catarina

According to the Santa Catarina government, it is a solution developed by Orgonew in India that, according to the manufacturer itself, increases the bioavailability of minerals, vitamins, and amino acids used in animal feed, with the promise of greater nutritional efficacy, reduced production costs, and lower environmental impact.

It is worth noting: these benefits are claims of the company, still without independent verification disclosed in the announcement.
The local operation will not remain with the Indian headquarters, but rather with a Brazilian branch.
According to the release from the Department of Finance, the memorandum was signed by Orgonew and Nanofeed Animal Health & Nutrition, Nanofeed Brazil, the company responsible for the operation of the enterprise in the country, as well as the state government, represented by the governor and the secretaries of International Articulation, National Articulation, Finance, and Industry, Commerce and Services, and by InvestSC.
Memorandum of understanding is not yet a project and the city remains undefined

According to the Department of Finance, the memorandum is valid for two years and establishes cooperation actions between the parties, including the creation of a joint working group, exchange of technical knowledge, training of specialized workforce, business missions, technical visits, and the evaluation of new opportunities for industrial expansion in Santa Catarina.
Two important points remain open in the official announcement.
The government did not disclose in which city in Santa Catarina the factory will be installed, and both the amount of R$ 35 million and the 100 direct jobs are the company’s forecasts for a horizon of 12 to 24 months, that is, planning numbers that still depend on the execution of the project to be confirmed.
Why India knocked on the door of the country’s largest animal protein hub
The governor’s speech directly connected the investment to the state’s vocation.
Santa Catarina is a world reference in animal protein production and has the ideal conditions to receive innovative investments like this, stated Jorginho Mello in the announcement, according to the official release, adding that the state offers the security that the entrepreneur needs and that the business strengthens the economy and creates jobs.
In fact, the state holds a prominent national position in the poultry and swine production chains, which places the future animal nutrition input factory close to its largest potential clients.
The signing also has a diplomatic reading.
According to the Department of Finance, the agreement reinforces the advancement of commercial relations between Santa Catarina and India in the industrial, technological, and agribusiness sectors, and gained symbolic weight as it occurred during the first official visit of Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia to the state, with the diplomat present at the ceremony at Casa d’Agronômica.
SC becomes a destination for foreign factories in succession
The announcement of Orgonew comes days after another international arrival in the state.
On June 1st, the same governor announced the installation of the Chinese company Neusoft Medical Systems in Porto Belo, on the North Coast, with an investment of R$ 250 million in a medical equipment factory, the company’s first production operation in Brazil, according to a report by the ND Mais portal.
The sequence of announcements reinforces the movement to attract foreign industries to the state, although each project follows its own schedule and stage of maturity.
For the Santa Catarina worker, what matters is the real calendar.
In the case of Orgonew, the current phase is structuring: working group, location definition, and workforce training come before any construction site, and the approximately 100 jobs planned for the first phase should only become concrete positions as the R$ 35 million investment comes to fruition within the announced 12 to 24-month window.
A nod from India to Brazilian agribusiness
The agreement with Orgonew brings together three movements that CPG readers closely follow: the race of states for foreign factories, the agribusiness’s search for more efficient inputs, and the commercial rapprochement between Brazil and India.
If the memorandum turns into a project within the announced timeframe, Santa Catarina adds nanotechnology to the menu of a sector that is already its calling card to the world.
