Boom in Used Vehicle Sales: Brazilians Turn to Used Cars Due to Inflation and Constant Increases in Gasoline, Ethanol, Diesel, and CNG.
Inflation, constant increases in gasoline, ethanol, diesel, and CNG prices, along with the disappearance of new car models on the market, which even have waiting lists, were just some of the factors that contributed to the boom in used vehicle transactions, with a price surge not seen since the 1980s, with the Cruzado Plan. According to the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Dealers Associations (Fenauto), between January and June 2021 alone, more than 5.4 million used light vehicles and automobiles were sold in Brazil.

Rising Prices of Gasoline, Diesel, Ethanol, and CNG Set Record Used Car Sales in Brazil in 2021
The used vehicle market is so booming that July 2021 was the best month for transaction results since the beginning of the historical series of the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave) in 2003. As a result, an avalanche of platforms in the segment is emerging, including the debut of Kavak with R$ 2.5 billion, the acquisition of Volanty by Creditas, and a R$ 155 million investment in Instacarro.
Having to provide a better experience for customers, the truth is that being an automotive dealer is becoming an increasingly difficult job: large volumes of information, integration of sectors, pre-sale, analysis of each vehicle, listings on websites, financial control, inventory, customer service, and post-sale are just some of the many tasks in the field. And, obviously, managing all this with excellence while keeping up with a market that keeps growing requires a very dynamic profile from business managers.

“That’s why the trend is that there will be an increase in digital platforms for the commercialization of these vehicles, which have attracted investors and put resources to win over Brazilians interested in selling or buying a used or certified car,” emphasizes Rodrigo Dal Bello, CEO of Autoconf.
Autoconf Works on Vehicle Sales Management Aimed at Used Car Dealerships
The startup, debuting in the market, focuses on sales management for used car dealerships and operates as a sort of “e-commerce for cars,” aiming to meet the needs of both the dealer and the end customer, providing protection against fraud and scams and the possibility of online payment for the asset.
“Before Autoconf was born, we also worked as dealers and our biggest pain point was selling securely, without the process being burdensome for us or the customer. Since vehicle sales are quite bureaucratic, we sought to develop a tool that accompanied the entire negotiation during the purchase – and throughout the sale –, as there are many details involved. With Autoconf, the dealer no longer faces any type of risk, such as inaccuracies in vehicle evaluation, difficulties in preparation, and delays in selling the vehicle due to not being advertised,” explains Bello.
The Autoconf is the only Brazilian software capable of managing a vehicle store 360º and boosting sales, completely breaking away from the usual that only focuses on advertising the vehicle.
