West-East Integration Railway
With approximately 1,527 km in length, the West East Integration Railway-FIOL will connect the future port of Ilhéus (on the Bahia coast) to Figueirópolis (in Tocantins), where it will connect with the North-South Railway.
Objectives
- Establish more economical alternatives for long-distance cargo flows;
- Favor multimodality;
- Interconnect the Brazilian railway network;
- Propose a new logistical alternative for the flow of agricultural and mining production through the port terminal of Ilhéus/BA; and
- Encourage investments to enhance production and induce modern production processes.
