The contract guarantees that the energy consumed by the unit will be fully renewable and produced by Omega’s wind energy projects in the northeastern region, making Ingredion’s value chain even more sustainable and aligned with Omega’s own values, which aim to transform society for the better through clean, straightforward wind energy.
The investment in the Pernambuco project will represent significant cost savings for Ingredion and will prevent the emission of more than 50,000 tons of CO2 during the contract period, which is set to start in January 2023 and run until December 2032.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
Ingredion Discusses Wind Energy Supply in Pernambuco
With Omega’s partnership in Pernambuco, Ingredion will reinforce its commitment to the sustainability of its operation through the use of clean energy, such as wind energy, according to André Stolf, VP of Operations at Ingredion for South America. He believes that this collaboration will add value directly to clients and partners by reducing environmental impact, increasing efficiency, and lowering costs.
He also states that Omega’s project is an important step for the company to consolidate its sustainable philosophy. Stoff aims to reduce pollutant gas emissions to contribute to the environment, intending to promote environmental advantages with a reduction of up to 90% in greenhouse gas emissions.
The Commercial Director of Omega Energy, Fabiana Polido, celebrates that the company will be part of Ingredion’s sustainable energy strategy, a company that, like Omega, values good management of ESG criteria and understands its responsibility in the environmental preservation process.
Wind Energy in the Northeast
The northeastern region contains most of Brazil’s wind energy parks, considering that the northeastern territory has excellent favorable meteorological conditions, with steady and strong winds, and where wind energy generation turbines have proliferated.
The Serra do Inácio region, the border area between Pernambuco and Piauí, will receive an estimated investment of R$ 2 billion. It is expected to host at least 175 wind farms by 2023.
