The Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP) Offers Openings for Free Technical Courses on Aeronautics, Aiming to Prepare Professionals for Aircraft and Engine Maintenance with a Focus on Quality, Safety, and Excellence in the Sector.
Applications are open until May 4, 2025, for 80 slots in free technical courses in the area of Aeronautics, offered by the São Carlos campus of the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP).
The slots are equally divided between two evening courses: Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance in Airframe and Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance in Powerplant, both lasting two years. Applications and more information are available on the institution’s website.
Requirements to Compete for the Slots
The selection process offers 40 slots for the Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance in Airframe and another 40 slots for the Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance in Powerplant.

Get to Know the Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance – Airframe
The Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance in Airframe at IFSP prepares qualified professionals for the disassembly, inspection, and maintenance of aircraft.
Practical activities are conducted in a modern hangar, equipped with laboratories that simulate the real environment of workshops and maintenance centers.
During the training, students learn to diagnose the operational conditions of the different parts of the aircraft and to perform detailed visual inspections.
The course also trains students to carry out cleaning, lubrication, minor repairs, assembly, and replacement of parts and systems, as well as interventions in structures, hydraulic, pneumatic, and flight control systems.
Upon completing the course, the student will receive a diploma in Technical Aeronautical Maintenance – Airframe qualification, recognized by CRT-SP (Regional Council of Industrial Technicians of the State of São Paulo).
Furthermore, they can continue their studies in higher education and will be eligible to take the theoretical aptitude exam from ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) to obtain the Aeronautical Maintenance Mechanic (MMA) license.
About the Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance – Powerplant
Also lasting 24 months and offered in the evening, the Technical Course in Aeronautical Maintenance in Powerplant at the Federal Institute is aimed at those who wish to specialize in aircraft engine maintenance.
The training can be done concurrently or subsequently to High School.
The technician trained in this free technical course will be able to schedule, control, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance on powerplants, following the technical standards established by manufacturers and regulatory agencies, both national and international.
Among the developed skills are disassembly, assembly, and testing of aircraft engines, respecting quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Additionally, students learn to interpret technical manuals, specialized publications, and to apply appropriate procedures to ensure the operational safety of aircraft.
