Authorization granted by the Florida financial regulator allows Inter to create a banking branch in the United States, issue its own cards, and reorganize its international operation.
The Inter received authorization to launch and operate a banking branch in the United States, in a move that strengthens its international expansion and places the Global Account at the center of the strategy.
The license was granted by the OFR, Florida Office of Financial Regulation, as informed by the company and reported by CNN Brasil on June 5, 2026.
With the authorization, the bank will be able to establish the so-called US Branch, its own banking structure on U.S. soil.

The new operation is expected to serve the 5.5 million customers currently served by the Global Account, according to Inter.
Authorization in Florida strengthens the bank’s international advancement
The permission granted by the OFR complements regulatory approvals announced by Inter in January 2026.
At that time, the bank reported having received approval from the Federal Reserve and the OFR itself to establish the operation in the United States.
The new license, therefore, represents another formal step in the process of structuring the North American banking branch.
According to Inter, the US Branch will allow the institution to directly issue its own debit and credit cards.
Global Account is expected to enter a new phase in the United States
The bank’s expectation is to migrate the 5.5 million Global Account customers to the new structure in the United States.
The change is expected to make the international operation more direct, as Inter will be able to offer regulated banking and credit products.
The institution also reported that the branch reduces the need to rely on third-party partner banks.
This point is strategic, as it expands the bank’s control over its own operation outside Brazil.
Bank Branch Can Reduce Costs and Reorganize Fundraising
The company states that the new structure should contribute to the optimization of fundraising.
The operation should also help in the reduction of operational costs, according to Inter.
The US Branch, in this scenario, represents not only a physical and regulatory presence in the United States.
The branch also serves as a base to reorganize services, cards, credit, and international customer service.
Main Points of Inter’s New Operation in the USA
• License granted by Florida’s OFR to operate a bank branch in the United States;
• Approval complements Federal Reserve and OFR approvals announced in January 2026;
• US Branch will allow direct issuance of debit and credit cards by Inter;
• Global Account should migrate 5.5 million customers to the new structure;
• Bank seeks to reduce operational costs and optimize fundraising;
• Operation reduces dependence on third-party partner banks.
New Structure Expands Inter’s Control Over Global Operation
The authorization marks a significant step within Inter’s international strategy.
From the US Branch, the bank now has a regulated structure to expand its presence in the North American market.
The measure can also make the Global Account more independent, as the institution will have greater control over cards and banking products.
Now, the advancement of the branch in the United States places Inter in a new phase of internationalization.
After all, can having its own banking structure in the USA further accelerate the global expansion of a Brazilian digital bank?
