Jaguar Mining Has Just Consolidated the Continuity of Its Collaboration with the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Established in 2019, to Deepen Its Research on Gold Mining in Brazil.
The work in this phase will be conducted by UERJ’s Economic Geology professor, Mariana Brando Soares, and by specialists from the company in the fields of geology and exploration, aiming to contribute to current geological knowledge and future gold mining projects in Brazil.
Jaguar has employed researchers in its team through consulting over the years and has always been open to supporting professors and university students with final projects, master’s theses, and dissertations. Particularly since 2019, the company has been expanding by providing geological data, on-site visits, and visits to company units, as well as seminars and partnerships.
Research Trends in Gold Mining
The dynamics of research conducted at Jaguar Mining by researchers, professors, or students depend on the characteristics and objectives of the research to be carried out. They typically occur in three ways:
-
Gold, silver, and copper appear near the surface at Filo Sur, making mining companies look at San Juan as a new treasure map in the Andes.
-
Geological Service of Brazil finds high concentrations of rare earth elements in a strip that stretches from São Paulo to Santa Catarina, including cities like Joinville and Garuva. Samples recorded more than 8,000 parts per million, a level considered significant for this type of occurrence.
-
YPF: Horacio Marín reveals that starting in 2028 the Argentine state will collect dividends from Vaca Muerta with US$ 25 billion, marking a new era of oil in the country
-
While concrete and steel dominate the image of resilient buildings, a 10-story wooden building was shaken in a laboratory to test if it can withstand earthquakes and reduce permanent damage.
- In situ data collection during visits to sites of interest;
- Core sample data collection by accessing core description libraries;
- Remote processing of collected data.
At UERJ or in a similar process, Jaguar Mining Provides its entire database in the area of research and mineral deposits, including field geological data, maps, drilling data, multi-element chemical analyses, detailed geophysical surveys, mineralization models, and geological models.
On the other hand, it receives cutting-edge academic scientific research to expand knowledge and enhance technical services and various processes in the gold mining production chain. To preserve the integrity of the relationship, data confidentiality agreements have been signed, limiting their distribution and disclosure.
