Alibaba Is Marketing a New Chinese Conversion Kit That Promises to Convert Classic Beetles into Electric Cars. Equipment Costs Less Than R$ 13 Thousand.

The Volkswagen has disappointed many enthusiasts who were eagerly awaiting an electric Beetle. However, all is not lost, as those who have an old Beetle from the 1960s or 1970s sitting in their garage can now make the dream of transforming the classic car into an electric vehicle a reality, thanks to a Chinese conversion kit.

Conversion of Classic Model into Electric Car Costs R$ 12 Thousand

This is the promise of a relatively affordable Chinese conversion kit sold by Alibaba and developed specifically for the old “Ladybug” models. Air-cooled cars like the Beetle make the conversion process to electric vehicle even easier, according to reports.

Here is the link to the Chinese kit that converts VW Beetles to electric.

The generous space in the engine compartment is also a great advantage for installing the custom components. The product costs only US$ 2,000, which is equivalent to R$ 12,248 in direct conversion to our currency without taxes. It is worth noting that shipping depends on negotiation with the seller.

The Chinese kit is compatible with Beetle models produced between 1965 and 1975 and features a 15 kW electric motor that generates about 20 horsepower. It may seem low, but compared to the original engines, the torque is much higher, providing more raw performance at the end of the line. The motor weighs about 48 kg and is installed directly onto the Beetle’s transmission.

In addition, the Chinese kit that transforms a Beetle into an electric car also includes an electronic speed controller and a digital display with new indicators. What’s missing is just the battery. Those who purchase the Chinese kit will need to buy the 96V battery separately from other retailers. Performance and range data have not been disclosed.

Electric Beetle Is Cloned by GWM and Could Arrive in Brazil

The automaker GWM is preparing to enter the Brazilian vehicle market with its urban electric car brand called Ora. The company already has a partnership with BMW in China, and the sub-brand is expected to start operations in the country with sustainable electric options, and best of all, with a GWM Electric Beetle.

The automaker’s arrival in Brazil is part of GWM’s expansion plans. The company aims to capitalize on the growing interest in the electric vehicle market in the country and, to that end, will invest in sustainable options.

However, in Brazil, vehicles will not have the same names as their Chinese versions. In the Asian country, some vehicles are named Good Cat, Punk Cat, Ballet Cat. Here they are expected to be named with acronyms. Ora will not create a literal cloned electric car; in fact, the brand’s models resemble Volkswagen’s classic popular model.

Volkswagen Will Not Produce Electric Beetle

It seems that it will not be in the near future that the famous Volkswagen Beetle will be transformed into an electric car. According to Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the automaker, for now, the model will remain without updates, despite the company’s focus being on the total electrification of its fleet.

The executive’s statement came after a digital animation depicting a possible version of the electric Beetle caught fans’ attention online. The design was created by the company for a Netflix animation, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug. The speculation about an electric Beetle project also arose after the automaker revived its classic Kombi as an electric vehicle called ID.Buzz.

Ótimo . Isso acaba com problema de gasolina adulterada. E o carro se auto carrega. Menos poluição e ar mais limpo o ruim é que os roubos vão continuar e seguro terá que ter mas sao os tempos modernos .
