The Auction Will Hire Hydropower, Wind, Solar, Biomass, Coal, and Natural Gas Projects
The Energy Research Company (EPE), Brazil’s state-owned energy research company, announced on Tuesday that 100,874 MW of renewable energy projects have been registered for the upcoming auction, which will take place on October 17, 2019. Known as A-6, the auction will hire hydropower, wind, solar, biomass, coal, and natural gas projects. In total, 1,829 energy projects will compete for contracts.
This auction, previously scheduled for September 26, will grant power purchase agreements (PPAs) that will come into effect on January 1, 2025.

In Brazil, hydropower plants (UHE) are divided into three groups, depending on their capacity: UHE, with a capacity greater than 30 MW, PCH, between 1 MW and 30 MW, and CGH up to 1 MW.
