On Sunday (27), former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva left for Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, to participate in the COP 28, the 28th Conference of Climate of the United Nations. At the event, he will be accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture (Mapa), Carlos Fávaro.
The event will take place between Thursday (30) and December 12 and will feature the presence of various authorities from different countries to discuss agreements aimed at reducing the impacts of climate change. Afterwards, Lula will head to Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
It is important to note that Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest oil exporter, a fossil fuel with significant impact on climate change. After COP28, Lula will continue to Germany, where he has scheduled working meetings with German authorities to discuss the conclusion of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union.

What Will Be Discussed in Saudi Arabia? On Tuesday (28), President Lula will meet with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the country, Mohammed Bin Salman Al-Saud. During the conversation, they will address the expansion of trade between the countries and the possibility of Saudi investments in Brazil.
They will also discuss the participation of the country’s public fund, Salic, in Brazil’s sustainable food production program, led by Mapa. Lula’s expectation is to secure investments for the infrastructure projects of the Growth Acceleration Plan (PAC) and in sectors such as animal protein and renewable energy.
