Petrobras: new coronavirus cases on the P-26 platform, in Macaé, in the Campos Basin. According to the Union of Oil Workers in Northern Fluminense, Sindipetro-NF, compared to other units, P-26 has the most complicated situation. Last Friday (24), the Norwegian company Equinor reported that 31 oil workers providing services on the Peregrino C platform have been contaminated by the coronavirus.
On the afternoon of last Thursday, the agency stated that three new cases of the disease were registered among the workers on the P-26. This week, according to the union, 13 workers disembarked with symptoms of the disease.
According to Sindipetro-NF, the number of workers contaminated by the coronavirus increases every day on the platforms in the Campos Basin in Macaé and that all are tested.

The highlighted problem is the lack of tests for workers who do not present symptoms of the disease. This is based on reports made by workers on seven platforms: in addition to P-26, P-50, P-18, P-35, P-20, P-33, and P-62.
Petrobras stated that it monitors all suspected cases among employees, inside or outside the units, since the first report of symptoms and that it has taken all preventive measures to avoid contagion, in addition to guiding the employee and their families through health teams.
“Professionals who present any symptoms on board are assessed by the dedicated medical team and, if classified as a suspected case, are disembarked. Those who had very close contact (the so-called contacts) are also disembarked, tested, and monitored”, Petrobras informed.
See the excerpt from Petrobras’s statement regarding the prevention dynamics of the new coronavirus involving the movement of workers on the platforms.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Petrobras has adopted preventive measures in line with the recommendations of health authorities and regulatory agencies. These measures are proposed by a crisis committee that monitors the evolution of the global health situation caused by the coronavirus daily, proposing preventive actions in a timely manner. We have adopted telework for employees with administrative activities and for professionals in the risk group in any activity. In operational units, we implemented a reduced workforce to ensure the continuity of operations and safety. For the offshore sector, considering the special confinement characteristics, the company adopted even stricter measures. We implemented monitored home isolation and medical screening before boarding, with the suspension of boarding for anyone presenting any symptoms. On board, teams are continuously monitored and disembarkation is provided whenever there is a report of respiratory symptoms. During disembarkation, the employee wears a mask as recommended by the Ministry of Health and is transported by vehicles waiting near the aircraft, avoiding transit in common areas of the airport. When residing in the disembarkation area, the employee is directed home with instructions for home isolation; in the case of non-residents, they are sent to a hotel, isolated in their rooms until suitable transport to their residences is arranged. All employees are monitored by health teams”.
