ABEAR (Brazilian Association of Airlines) reported on Wednesday (25) that it visited the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPA) to make presentations to Minister Mário França regarding the airline sector agenda for the year 2023.
Eduardo Sanovicz, president of ABEAR, emphasized the importance of maintaining constant dialogue with the ministries and that new meetings throughout the year will need to update the scenario and promote discussions on necessary measures for the development of Brazilian commercial aviation.
Sanovicz made a presentation on the history of the last 20 years of the airline sector and the impact of public policy that has brought an increasing number of passengers to air transport, as well as tariff freedom.
For the year 2023, Eduardo Sanovicz highlighted the importance of discussing the impact of aviation fuel prices, which account for about 40% of companies’ costs and have increased by 121% since 2019.

After 16 years and almost 600 prototypes, a Chinese inventor unveils the world’s smallest and cheapest manned jet, at just 3.80 meters long and costing US$7.2 thousand in materials.
Márcio França stated that this work is just beginning and the Ministry will also play a role in supporting the entire sector in important agendas, as it is a new model for strengthening regional aviation.
“It is important that airlines and associations demystify some points of aviation so that society and the government can understand what is most important to be addressed,” the minister emphasized.
“Minister Márcio França will have our full support in leading public policies for the airline sector. By presenting more relevant topics for airlines, we will provide the government with information to demonstrate the challenging scenario post-pandemic and the agenda we need to face to resume growth, return to lower cost conditions, and the purchasing power of the population and businesses that we experienced in the early part of the last decade, leading to a significant increase in onboard passengers,” Sanovicz stated.
This institutional meeting was attended by the president of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), Juliano Noman, his airport advisor at the MPA, George Christian Bezerra, and the Director of External Relations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Marcelo Pedroso.
Representing ABEAR were participants including Institutional Relations Director Jurema Monteiro, her Institutional Relations advisor, Renato Rabelo, and Communications Manager, Karen Bonfim.
