MEC Partners With Three Universities To Offer Free Online Courses In Special Education. Sign Up And Make A Difference!
Three renowned Brazilian universities, in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MEC), have opened registrations for 15,000 vacancies in free courses in Special Education. The Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB), the State University of Maranhão (UEMA), and the São Paulo State University (UNESP) have joined forces to train basic education teachers, promoting inclusive pedagogical practices and positively impacting education in Brazil.
These courses aim to prepare educators to meet the needs of students with disabilities, respecting each individual’s uniqueness and promoting an inclusive educational environment.
Each free course has 120 hours, fully online (EAD), and covers theoretical and practical content on human rights, curriculum adaptation, pedagogical practices, and inclusive strategies, offering essential tools to transform basic education.

What Courses And Universities Are Offering These Vacancies?
The 15,000 vacancies are distributed equally among the three institutions:
- UFRB (Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia): Course in Special Education for basic education teachers in the public network of Bahia, with 5,000 vacancies distributed across various municipalities. Registrations until November 15, 2024, with selection by order of registration and document analysis.
- UEMA (State University of Maranhão): Course for improvement for teachers in the public elementary and secondary education system, with synchronous and asynchronous activities. There are 5,000 vacancies for candidates from Maranhão, filled by order of registration. Registrations until November 4, 2024.
- UNESP (São Paulo State University): Course in Special Education focused on inclusion, aimed at public network teachers in São Paulo, with 5,000 vacancies, of which 1,250 are reserved for affirmative action. Registrations until November 15, 2024.
What Are The Requirements And Criteria To Participate?
Each free online course (EAD) has specific requirements, such as being active in the public education network, having a degree in education, and in some cases, basic computer skills and internet access.
The selection criteria are primarily based on the order of registration, respecting the reserved vacancies for affirmative actions, as in the case of UNESP.
How And Where To Register For The Free MEC Course?
As registrations are made exclusively online, each institution offers its own system for the process. At UFRB and UEMA, the vacancies are filled according to order of registration, with subsequent document analysis.
At UNESP, there is also a reserve of 25% of the vacancies for affirmative actions, which include groups such as black people, indigenous people, and people with disabilities.
