Joint Exercises Involving Over 2250 Military Personnel, Frigates, and Helicopters Mark the Strategic Cooperation Between the Brazilian Navy and the French Armed Forces, Aimed at Strengthening Interoperability and Deepening Diplomatic and Military Ties.
In a significant strategic move, the Brazilian Navy, in partnership with the French Armed Forces, initiated a series of joint military exercises aimed at strengthening cooperation and interoperability between the armed forces of both countries. The operation, titled “Jeanne D’Arc 2024”, brings together over 2250 military personnel and incorporates advanced resources, including frigates and helicopters.
The bilateral exercise, divided into maritime and port phases, takes place from April 14 to 20, starting in the Sepetiba Bay region, with activities in the training center area of Marambaia Island (CADIM). The maritime phase stands out for the execution of an amphibious operation, while the port phase will focus on specific training for marines and French army troops.
Brazilian Navy Highlights the NAM Atlântico
Among the assets employed by the Brazilian Navy are the multipurpose aircraft carrier Atlântico, the general cargo landing ship Marambaia, and the ocean support ship Mearim, in addition to the UH1 Esquilo, OH1 Super Cougar, and SH16 Seahawk helicopters. On the French side, the highlights include the amphibious helicopter carrier Tonnerre and the frigate Georges Leygues, with helicopters SA 341 Gazelle and SA 365 Dauphin, demonstrating the ongoing commitment to the strategic partnership between Brazil and France.
