According to data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index for July 2025, Bill Gates has a net worth of approximately US$ 124 billion, a figure that still places him among the wealthiest billionaires on the planet. However, he has stated that he intends to donate 99% of this fortune by 2045, which helps explain why his wealth is gradually decreasing.

Gates Earns US$ 574 Per Second

Even with this redistribution effort, the numbers associated with his name are impressive. Currently, Gates earns US$ 574 per second, which amounts to about US$ 2 million per hour. This occurs even without active work, thanks to the financial returns from his investments in stocks, funds, and various companies.

Why Is Bill Gates’ Fortune Declining?

The main reason lies in voluntary transfers to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, considered one of the largest philanthropic institutions in the world. In 2022 alone, Gates donated more than US$ 20 billion in assets, and reiterated that he will continue to reduce his personal wealth until only 1% remains.

Additionally, Bill Gates regularly invests in sustainable projects, public health, and social technologies, which, while generating positive impact, do not always yield direct financial returns. This explains why his position on Forbes’ ranking has fluctuated outside the top 10.
