The city hall of Botucatu and Dexco (formerly Grupo Duratex) announced in a press conference the construction of a high-tech factory for ceramic coatings production in the city in the interior of São Paulo. With an investment of R$ 600 million and a production capacity of 10 million m² per year, the company will have its first factory with 4.0 technology since its inauguration.
All production lines of the new factory under construction will begin their operations already robotized, with self-diagnosis of machines and maintenance records via mobile. The unit will serve the brands Ceusa and Portinari, producing large-format ceramic tiles that can be used for countertops and facades, replacing marble slabs.
The construction of this new factory in São Paulo will complement the production of ceramic coatings from the company’s four units located in southern Brazil, in the state of Santa Catarina in the cities of Urussanga and Criciúma. The construction period is approximately two years. Dexco estimates the creation of 350 direct jobs in the region and plans to deliver the first line of products produced on-site by 2023.
The company’s investments in its units will total R$ 2.5 billion over three years. This includes R$ 500 million in the Wood Division, the company’s main business, R$ 1.1 billion in Deca, R$ 600 million in the new ceramic coatings factory construction, R$ 100 million for acquiring a minority stake in the ABC Construction network, R$ 100 million in a venture capital fund, and R$ 100 million in one-time investments. Besides increasing capacity, the investments will enable margin improvements.
