Investments and Jobs to Be Created at the General Motors Facility in the State of São Paulo
According to General Motors, there are prospects for increased production and new hires during this period. This year, 400 workers have already been hired, and this number could reach 600 jobs. In the current scenario, where factories are being closed in the region, in São Paulo, the Union views the confirmation of investments by General Motors as positive news.
In 2019, the metalworkers approved an agreement in which the automaker committed to bringing investments of at least R$ 5 billion to the São José dos Campos factory and, thus, keeping the complex in the city. Before the agreement, General Motors had announced plans to end its operations in Brazil. The automaker produces the S10 and Trailblazer models in São José dos Campos and employs around 3,800 workers.

The Production of the Next Generation of Chevrolet S10 and Trailblazer Models from General Motors
According to the union, General Motors’ investments will be made by 2023, when the next generation of the mentioned models is expected to arrive, which will remain on the same GM31XX platform since the automaker canceled the GM32XX.
Like the American Colorado and the GMC Canyon, S10 and Trailblazer from General Motors will have the same chassis, however, the body should be new, more robust and sturdy, in order to enhance its attributes off-road. Little is known about what the new Chevrolets will have, but the 2.8 turbo diesel engine is expected to be maintained, although with some increase in power to keep competitiveness with the Toyota Hilux.
