Electric motorcycles have enormous potential to become more popular than electric cars due to their much lower production and maintenance costs. In India, the Ola S1 was recently launched, an electric scooter with a range of 181 km and a maximum speed of 115 km/h. What makes it appealing to the market is its price, which is only R$ 9,200, significantly lower than many existing combustion motorcycles in Brazil.

Electric Scooter Can Be Charged in Just 4.5 Hours
Produced by Ola Electric, the S1 will have two versions, a cheaper one that will hit the market at R$ 5,500, featuring an 8.5 kW electric motor and 5.9 kgf/m of torque, allowing the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h and to accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 7 seconds, with a range of 120 km.
The more expensive version will launch with a price of R$ 9,200 and will be equipped with the same motor, capable of reaching 115 km/h and having a range of up to 180 km thanks to its 4 kWh battery.

Furthermore, there is a promise to create a network of charging stations for electric vehicles spread across major cities in the country, totaling over 5,000 stations in 300 locations.
Electric Scooter Will Feature an Octa-Core Processor and 7-Inch Multimedia Center
In terms of design, the Ola S1 electric motorcycle stands out for its technologies and excellent equipment, which are found in higher-priced models.
The vehicle will have a set of LED lights, cruise control, a 7-inch multimedia center, GPS navigation, remote commands via smartphone, and many other features. All of this interconnected by the Move OS operating system, which comes with an octa-core processor running at 1.8 GHz and 3GB of RAM. The Ola S1 is currently available for pre-order in India, with deliveries starting in October. However, there is no forecast for these models to arrive in Brazil or other countries unless imported.
Honda Also Offers an Affordable Electric Motorcycle
Honda had previously launched the U-GO, an electric scooter priced at US$ 1,150, and this month launched the U-BE, which entered the market at a more affordable price of just US$ 475, approximately R$ 2,572 in direct conversion.
The model, which is catching consumers’ attention, can reach a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The scooter’s rear traction motor is 350 W, and it will have three versions with ranges of 55 km, the second with 70 km, and the last and most powerful will have a range of 80 km on a single charge.
