American General Motors Announces It Will Produce 100% Electric Cars and Trucks to Neutralize Carbon Emissions
The General Motors manufacturer has just announced that all brands of the group, including Chevrolet, will launch fully electric vehicles starting in 2035. This announcement is part of a larger plan aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. The automaker stated that it will invest US$ 27 billion in electric and autonomous cars over the next five years.

The goal is to provide 30 fully electric vehicles worldwide by the middle of this decade. By the end of 2025, 40% of its American models will be electric vehicles. The company plans to include crossovers, SUVs, cars, and trucks in its electric vehicle production line.
Fred Krupp, president of the Environmental Defense Fund, an NGO that addresses environmental issues, says, “With this extraordinary step forward, GM is making it clear that taking action to eliminate pollution from all new light vehicles by 2035 is an essential element of any automaker’s business plan.”

General Motors also stated that by 2030 in the United States and by 2035, its factories will be powered by 100% renewable energy sources. This is five years faster than its previously announced global goal. Its aim is to make all new light vehicles (the entire fleet) fully electric in 14 years.
Chevrolet currently sells only the Bolt Hatch, in a single version priced at 260,790 reais. The Bolt EUV crossover will be showcased on February 14 and is a strong candidate to be the company’s second fully electric vehicle on the market.
