Stellantis Will Make Billion-Dollar Investment in Brazil by 2030 and Create New Jobs for Engineers to Promote the Advancement of Hybrid Cars!

Stellantis, a giant in the automotive sector, revealed ambitious plans to strengthen its presence in Brazil, creating 400 new job opportunities for engineers. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of hybrid technology in the country, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

The announcement was made at an event held in Betim (MG), which was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Expansion in the Automotive Sector

Stellantis, owner of renowned brands such as Fiat and Citroën, announced a significant investment of R$ 30 billion in Brazil by 2030.

At a ceremony held this Tuesday (11), the automaker highlighted the creation of 400 new jobs for engineers, who will join the Hybrid-Flex Product Development and Mobility Center, inaugurated in the mining city of Betim.

This center, which becomes a milestone in Stellantis’s strategy for the future, will be fundamental for the development of hybrid and electric vehicles, reinforcing the company’s leadership in the transition to cleaner and more sustainable mobility.

Additionally, the 400 new positions add to another 1,500 opportunities recently announced, with 1,200 jobs being allocated to the Betim hub and 300 to the Citroën unit in Porto Real, Rio de Janeiro.

Commitment to Sustainability

During the event, Stellantis’s chairman, John Elkann, emphasized Brazil’s strategic importance to the company’s plans.

“We are starting a new cycle of investments in Brazil this year, which will extend until 2030. With this R$ 30 billion investment, we aim to boost technological innovation and the energy transition of our vehicles, marking a new era of sustainable mobility,” Elkann stated.

The new technology center in Betim will be responsible for researching and developing solutions for hybrid cars, combining Brazilian ethanol, one of the cleanest fuels in the world, with vehicle electrification.

“Hybrid technology is a key piece in reducing emissions and transforming the automotive sector,” emphasized Márcio Tonani, Stellantis’s vice president of engineering.

Hybrid Technology and the Transformation of the Automotive Market

Brazil, with its extensive use of ethanol, becomes a fertile ground for the development of hybrid and electric vehicles.

According to Tonani, Stellantis is ready to adopt 100% electric technologies in its portfolio.

“Our goal is to democratize access to vehicle electrification, providing consumers with sustainable and innovative options,” explained the vice president.

Additionally, the company has already begun producing hybrid models, such as the Fiat Pulse and Fiat Fastback, in Betim.

These cars are part of a strategy aimed at reducing pollutant emissions and achieving results similar to those of fully electric vehicles, but with the benefit of using ethanol.
