Necta Gás Natural Completes First Connection with Biomethane from Phase II of the Sustainable Cities Project in Presidente Prudente. The Expectation is to Serve Around 5 Thousand Customers by December, with an Investment of R$ 12 Million and 44 km of New Distribution Networks
Necta Gás Natural has just taken another step in the Sustainable Cities Project and connected the first customer with biomethane from Phase II in Presidente Prudente. The highlight was the Beef Company Steakhouse & Grill, which received renewable gas at a symbolic ceremony with a ribbon-cutting.
According to a press release sent by the company, the event brought together authorities from the State of São Paulo, local leaders, and representatives from the bioenergy sector.
This news marks an important turning point for the city and also for the state’s energy matrix. Construction began in June, with an investment of around R$ 12 million, and is already 80% complete.

The expectation is that the work will be completed by December. Necta Gás Natural, with its administrative headquarters in Ribeirão Preto, shows that the expansion of biomethane is transforming the way energy reaches the population, in a practical manner and connected to the future.
Who Is Behind the Project
Necta Gás Natural is the company responsible for delivering piped gas to 43 municipalities in Northwest São Paulo. There are over 1,500 km of operational network that already serve more than 50 thousand customers from residential, commercial, industrial, and vehicular sectors.
The company was born from Commit, a joint venture formed by Compass and Mitsui, and has been expanding its presence in various regions.
In Presidente Prudente, the work began in 2020, when the municipality began to have an isolated biomethane pipeline, directly supplied by the Cocal Plant in Narandiba.
This fuel is produced from sugarcane waste, a renewable resource that helps reduce dependence on unsustainable sources. Since 2022, Phase I of the project has been operating with 14 km of pipelines connecting the plant to the city, supplying gas to industrial consumers.
Now, with the arrival of Phase II, Necta Gás Natural expands its service and creates new opportunities for both residents and companies seeking a cleaner alternative for their daily energy consumption.
How the Expansion Will Be in Presidente Prudente
Necta Gás Natural began the construction of the gas pipeline expansion in June of this year and, in just three months, has already reached 80% completion. 44 km of network have been added to the urban perimeter, which will allow the connection of about 5 thousand already contracted customers.
Among the first to receive biomethane are Beef Company, Hotel Comfort, and Panificadora Morumbi, all located in the city.
The R$ 12 million investment in this second phase will serve not only commercial and industrial establishments but also families and gas stations. For residents, this means the arrival of piped gas at home, without the need for tanks.
For commerce and industry, it means a constant and reliable supply, with a direct impact on production and service routines.
According to José Eduardo Moreira, CEO of the company, the connection made in September represents thousands of new customers who are expected to be connected in the coming months.

He emphasized that Necta Gás Natural’s goal is to contribute to sustainable development while bringing more quality of life to the population of Presidente Prudente.
A Landmark for Sustainable Energy in the State
Necta Gás Natural is part of a movement that is positioning São Paulo as a reference in clean energy. The São Paulo energy matrix is already composed of over 50% from renewable sources, such as biodiesel, biogas, biomethane, and ethanol.
During the ceremony for connecting the first customer, the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State, Guilherme Piai, highlighted that the city becomes a model for the country by adopting biomethane on a large scale.
The importance of the project was also reinforced by the mayor of Presidente Prudente, Milton Carlos de Mello, known as Tupã. He noted that the municipal administration embraced the proposal from the beginning, approving the project quickly so that the work could begin.
For the mayor, the arrival of biomethane strengthens the city’s development, improves residents’ lives, and attracts companies committed to sustainability practices.
Moreover, the connection of the first customer of Phase II coincided with the celebrations of 108 years of Presidente Prudente, celebrated in September. The milestone was seen as a gift for the city and a progression that positions it prominently within the State and Brazil.

What Changes Practically with This Connection
Necta Gás Natural, by connecting Beef Company with biomethane, has practically demonstrated how the project is coming to life and reaching the daily lives of the population.
For customers, the main change is having access to piped gas from a renewable source, with uninterrupted supply and practicality in use.
Another important aspect is that the initiative opens up space for investments throughout the Northwest São Paulo region. With more companies and homes connected, the demand for energy solutions that accompany this new scenario increases.
Biomethane, produced from sugarcane waste, adds value to the local agricultural production chain, which already has a strong presence in the State of São Paulo.
Thus, each connection made by Necta Gás Natural represents not only the arrival of a new customer but also the strengthening of a project that integrates sustainability, innovation, and economic growth.
