New charque factory arrives in Bahia with an investment of R$ 30 million, forecast of 300 jobs and production of up to 90 thousand kg per day.
Bahia is about to receive a significant investment in the food industry. The company Metropolitana is finalizing the installation of a charque meat factory in Feira de Santana, a project that received around R$ 30 million in investments and is expected to generate approximately 300 direct jobs. The operation is expected to start on July 15, after the final adjustments of the unit are completed.
Located in the Centro Industrial do Subaé (CIS), along the BR-324, the factory is focused not only on the regional market but also on other states and the international market. According to information released by the company, the unit has export capacity and intends to operate in different segments of the protein sector.
Production of up to 90 thousand kilos of charque per day places the enterprise among the largest in the segment in Bahia
The main product of the new unit will be charque meat. The expectation is that the factory will reach a daily production of approximately 90 thousand kilos, a volume that places the enterprise among the largest operations in the sector in the state.

After selling a unit for R$ 115 million to pay off debts, a traditional factory in SC founded in 1932 has a new R$ 64.8 million plan denied by the court and retains about 690 workers in Joinville.
In addition to charque, Metropolitana also intends to produce calabresa sausage, hamburger meat, salted pork products, and other meat derivatives. The diversification expands the company’s potential operations and reduces dependency on a single production line.

According to the company, the products will be able to supply both the national market and export-oriented operations, taking advantage of Feira de Santana’s strategic position in the Northeast logistics network.
Investment of R$ 30 million is expected to boost employment, logistics, and supply chain
The generation of approximately 300 direct jobs is one of the main expected impacts with the arrival of the factory. In addition to the positions within the industrial plant, the enterprise is expected to stimulate activities related to transportation, maintenance, supply of inputs, technical services, and regional commerce.
Experts often highlight that industrial investments of this magnitude tend to produce significant indirect effects on the local economy, especially in cities with a strong logistical vocation like Feira de Santana.
The location along the BR-324 also facilitates the distribution of production to different regions of the country, strengthening the competitiveness of the operation.
Custom-made equipment and structure aimed at production expansion
The construction of the unit is in the final stage of implementation. Part of the equipment used in the factory was custom-made to meet the specific needs of the operation, a characteristic uncommon in enterprises that are still starting their activities.
The company reported that the assembly of the manufacturing plant is practically completed and that the main pending issue for the start of operations is the release of the electricity supply necessary to meet the industrial demand of the unit.

With the start of operations scheduled for July, the expectation is that production will be gradually expanded as the industrial lines reach full capacity.
Feira de Santana reinforces its position as one of the largest industrial hubs in the Northeast
The arrival of Metropolitana comes at a time of expansion for the industrial park of Feira de Santana. The municipality hosts one of the most important logistics centers in Bahia and houses hundreds of industries from different segments.
The combination of strategic location, road access, and availability of industrial areas has transformed the city into one of the main destinations for new productive investments in the state.
With an investment of R$ 30 million, capacity to produce 90,000 kilos of charque per day, and a forecast of 300 direct jobs, the new factory arrives as one of the largest industrial projects recently announced for the municipality. The question now is how far this operation will be able to expand its presence in the national and international markets in the coming years.
