The New Peugeot 308 was registered with the INPI by Stellantis, signaling a possible return to the Brazilian market. The model features plug-in hybrid and electric versions with up to 450 km of range, with prices that could exceed R$ 215 thousand.
The Brazilian automotive market was surprised by the official registration of the New Peugeot 308 with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). Stellantis’ move, while serving as legal design protection, puts the mid-size hatchback back into strategic plans for the country.
With a proposal focused on electrification and sophistication, the model distances itself from its predecessor and targets a premium audience, with values that, in direct conversion, exceed R$ 215 thousand, according to IG.
New Peugeot 308 in Brazil?
Currently, the mid-size hatchback segment is almost non-existent in Brazil, but the New Peugeot 308 emerges as a strong candidate to reopen this niche.

Chile inaugurates the first electric highway for the trucks that drive its economy, installs high-power chargers over 400 km, and aims to reduce diesel dependency in a logistical shift to Puerto Montt by 2030.
In France, the prices of the available versions vary significantly according to the technology applied:
- Entry (Hybrid 145): 32,540 euros.
- Diesel (130 hp): 34,940 euros.
- Plug-in Hybrid (195 hp): 40,060 euros.
- Electric (156 hp): 45,000 euros.
Thus, the average price of the vehicle abroad is 37,165 euros. It is important to note that this amount does not include import taxes or logistics costs, which would place the car in a high price range if the sale is confirmed by the brand.

Internal Technology: The Trump Card of the New Peugeot 308
If the registered design stands out for its aggressive lines on the outside, inside the vehicle redefines the category standard.
Peugeot bets on the evolution of the i-Cockpit architecture, which focuses on ergonomics and the complete digitalization of the driving experience.
Unlike traditional models, the cabin features the i-Toggles concept, which are fully configurable digital controls.
Furthermore, the list of standard equipment in Europe is extensive and includes:
- 10-inch digital instrument panel.
- Connected navigation system with real-time updates.
- Wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Four USB-C type inputs spread throughout the interior.
- High-standard finish with Alcantara options and aluminum details.

Performance and the new electrified powertrains
The New Peugeot 308 is based on the EMP2 platform, which allows for unprecedented mechanical versatility for the model.
At the top of the performance range is the Plug-in Hybrid 195 powertrain. This system combines a 150 hp 1.6 turbo engine with an electric unit, resulting in a combined output of 195 hp and a robust torque of 36.7 kgfm.
On the other hand, the fully electric variant, named E-308, delivers 156 hp and 27.5 kgfm of immediate torque.
Thanks to its 58.4 kWh battery, the model achieves a range of up to 450 km in the WLTP cycle, making it a viable option for those seeking sustainability without giving up a car with a pleasant design.

Physical structure and load capacity
Even with a focus on luxury, the hatch does not ignore practicality. The New Peugeot 308 has balanced dimensions that make it agile in the city and stable on highways:
- Length: 4.37 meters.
- Wheelbase: 2.68 meters.
- Width: 1.85 meters.
- Trunk: 412 liters (in thermal and mild hybrid versions).
Therefore, the registration of the industrial design in Brazil ensures that Stellantis has a clear path to launch the vehicle if the market shows signs of acceptance for more refined and lower passenger models, moving away from the omnipresence of SUVs.
