The new electrified pickup truck from Nissan enters the brand’s global strategy and will be included in the export plans from China, amid the portfolio reorganization and the advancement of electrification in international markets.
Nissan has placed the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid at the center of its new global strategy and included the pickup in its export offensive from China, with Latin America among the markets mentioned by the company.
The move was presented by the company in Yokohama, Japan, as part of the plan to reduce the global range and increase the use of electrified technologies and artificial intelligence-based assistance systems.
However, the brand has not yet detailed which countries in the region will receive the model first nor officially confirmed the arrival date in Brazil.

The reorganization of Nissan’s portfolio
The announcement is part of a broader reorganization of the manufacturer’s portfolio.
The company stated that it intends to reduce its global lineup from 56 to 45 vehicles, discontinuing some products and increasing the presence of assisted driving technologies in its global offering.
In this context, the Frontier Pro appears as one of the models included in the brand’s strategy, alongside the electric sedan N7, also developed in China.
Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid and the global debut
Officially presented at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23, 2025, the Frontier Pro marked Nissan’s debut in the plug-in hybrid pickup segment.
Developed in partnership with Zhengzhou Nissan, linked to the Dongfeng group, it was initially launched in the Chinese market with plans for export.
At the time of the reveal, the manufacturer stated that the model would be sold outside of China but left the destinations for a later announcement.
Months later, while detailing its global restructuring, Nissan began to mention Latin America among the markets served by the export strategy for vehicles produced in China.
Engine, range, and traction of the new pickup
The new pickup does not derive from the Frontier currently sold in Brazil.
It is a product of Chinese origin, with its own design and distinct positioning within the brand’s lineup.
In the mechanical set, the plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5 turbo four-cylinder engine and an electric motor integrated into the transmission.
According to Nissan, the combined power exceeds 300 kW, with torque of up to 800 Nm.
For the Chinese market, the brand announced electric range of up to 135 km.
This number, however, was disclosed based on the local homologation cycle.
In Brazil, any range estimate depends on official certification, which has not yet been disclosed by the company.
Therefore, there is no confirmation on what the model’s range will be in a potential launch in the Brazilian market.
The technical proposal also preserves characteristics typically associated with the medium pickup segment.
The Frontier Pro uses five-link rear suspension, intelligent all-wheel drive, and electronic locking of the rear differential.
Additionally, there are specific driving modes, including options for hybrid, electric, performance, and snow use.
Another feature mentioned by the manufacturer is the ability to provide power to external equipment via the V2L system, with up to 6 kW.
Interior, dimensions, and equipment of the Frontier Pro
The dimensions place the new model at a higher level than the current Frontier in external size.
The cabin features five seats, and the interior follows the configuration adopted in more recent models developed in China, with a 10-inch digital dashboard and a 14.6-inch multimedia center.
Nissan also mentions a panoramic roof, as well as comfort items such as heating, ventilation, and massage function in the front seats in some versions.
Latin America enters the export strategy
In the case of Latin America, the central point is the industrial schedule.
In December 2025, Nissan announced that the Frontier Pro and Frontier Pro PHEV would be produced in China for global export and that shipments would begin in the first half of 2026.
During the presentation of the global plan in Yokohama in April 2026, the company associated its export strategy from the Chinese base with markets such as Latin America, ASEAN, and the Middle East.
Still, the official communication did not provide a closed list of countries or a public launch calendar by market.
What is already known about Brazil
This detail is relevant for the Brazilian case.
So far, there is no formal confirmation from Nissan Brazil regarding local sales of the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid.
What exists, so far, are reports from specialized press about the model circulating in tests in the country and a significant transition context in the brand’s regional operation.
In March 2025, Nissan announced an industrial reorganization in Latin America and stated that, starting in January 2026, it would concentrate the regional production of Frontier/Navara pickups in Mexico, previously divided with Argentina.
In practice, the Frontier currently marketed in the Brazilian market follows a different path from the new Frontier Pro.
The Chinese-origin pickup expands the brand’s electrified offering in the segment, but its commercial strategy still depends on definitions regarding market, positioning, and price.
Therefore, the launch in Brazil remains without official confirmation, although Latin America has already been mentioned in the company’s export plan.
Price of the Frontier Pro PHEV in the Chinese market
In the Chinese market, Nissan announced in December 2025 prices between 189,900 and 249,900 yuan for the Frontier Pro PHEV.
The direct conversion to reais, however, does not serve as a parameter for a potential price list in Brazil, as it does not consider taxes, shipping, homologation, and the commercial strategy adopted in each country.
Thus, any price projection for the Brazilian market at this moment does not have confirmation from the manufacturer.
Besides the price issue, the arrival of a medium plug-in hybrid pickup occurs in a segment historically dominated by diesel versions.
In this scenario, the Frontier Pro integrates the technological transition planned by Nissan for its upcoming products.
At the same time, the manufacturer tries to fit the model into a broader process of global reorganization, with portfolio reduction, pursuit of efficiency, and expansion of electrification.
As a result, the Frontier Pro has ceased to be just a novelty presented in China and has become part of the brand’s international strategy.
The next step will depend on the progress of the export schedule and Nissan’s commercial definitions for each market in the region.
