After Campo de Azulão, project in which Techint will build a thermal power plant, having received the last license, it was Eneva's turn to start participating.
On the 11th, Eneva will start installing equipment for drilling and exploring natural gas in the states of Roraima and Amazonas. The area is located between the municipalities of Silves and Itapiranga, in the Azulão natural gas field.
Who announced the start of the Eneva works was the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, who also spoke about the importance of the states of Amazonas and Roraima in gas exploration on land, “The state of Amazonas has 50% of all Brazilian gas reserves onshore gas exploration. This is an investment of around R$ 1,8 billion. Around R$ 700 million will be invested in the state of Roraima, where the company will supply electricity with the plant, and R$ 1,1 billion will be invested here in the state of Amazonas”, he declared.
The enterprise
The natural gas complex in the Azulão field is a project in which Techint was contracted to build the Jaguatirica II thermoelectric plant in Boa Vista, Roraima, which also includes the construction of a natural gas treatment unit, which will be built by Eneva, and a liquefaction terminal.
Eneva estimates that 1.000 jobs will be generated in Roraima and another 1.000 jobs in Amazonas in this first phase of the undertaking and the governor of Amazonas spoke about the benefits for the state, “This means increased revenue for the municipalities of Silves and Itapiranga, which also will be entitled to royalties, just as the State will also be entitled to these royalties and also to the collection of ICMS”.
