With Production Confirmed for 2025, the New Generation Honda WR-V Bets on an Unprecedented Hybrid-Flex System, Robust Design, and Plenty of Space to Compete with the Segment Leaders.

Honda has officially confirmed the production of the new generation Honda WR-V in Brazil, a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the competitive compact SUV segment. The model, which will be manufactured in Itirapina (SP) as part of a R$ 4.2 billion investment, will arrive completely renewed, abandoning the old Fit platform to become an SUV with a more robust and imposing design, inspired by the Honda Elevate, already sold in other markets.

The brand’s major bet for the new generation Honda WR-V is not just in looks, but under the hood. The SUV will be Honda’s first in Brazil to feature an unprecedented hybrid-flex system (e:HEV), combining the reliability of the 1.5-liter engine with the efficiency of electrification. The promise is of exemplary fuel consumption, putting the new WR-V in a prominent position against rivals like Chevrolet Tracker, Hyundai Creta, and the upcoming Toyota Yaris Cross.

A Real SUV with Space for Big People

The new generation Honda WR-V will be hybrid-flex, manufactured in Brazil and promises consumption above 20 km/l

Unlike its predecessor, the new generation Honda WR-V was designed from the ground up to be an SUV. With a length of 4.31 meters and a generous wheelbase of 2.65 meters, it will offer above-average interior space for the category.

The standout feature, however, will be the trunk with a capacity of 458 liters, comfortably surpassing direct competitors like the Chevrolet Tracker (393 liters) and becoming one of the largest in the segment, a highly valued attribute for Brazilian families.

The Bet on the Hybrid-Flex Engine and Reliability

The new generation Honda WR-V will be hybrid-flex, manufactured in Brazil and promises consumption above 20 km/l

The main innovation of the new generation Honda WR-V will be its engine. In addition to a base version with the already known and reliable 1.5-liter direct injection engine with 126 hp (the same as the City and HR-V), the SUV will debut the hybrid-flex e:HEV system.

In this system, the combustion engine primarily works as a power generator for the electric motors that drive the wheels, allowing the car to run in 100% electric mode most of the time in urban cycles. The expectation is for a fuel consumption that can exceed 20 km/l, a revolutionary figure for the category.

Domestic Production and Market Positioning

The production of the new generation Honda WR-V is confirmed for the first half of 2025 at the Itirapina (SP) factory, with the commercial launch expected in the second half of the same year. Local manufacturing is a crucial factor to ensure a competitive price and a stable supply of parts.

The new SUV will be positioned as Honda’s entry-level model, below the HR-V, with a price range estimated between R$ 120,000 and R$ 150,000.

The Battle with the Giants of the Segment

The new generation Honda WR-V will arrive to compete for the consumer’s heart in Brazil’s hottest segment. Its main competitors will be:

  • Chevrolet Tracker
  • Hyundai Creta
  • Volkswagen T-Cross
  • The Future Toyota Yaris Cross

To stand out, Honda bets on the strength of its brand, its reputation for reliability, superior interior space, and, above all, on the innovation and efficiency of the hybrid-flex system. If the price is competitive, the new generation Honda WR-V has everything to become one of the new market leaders.

And you, what do you think of the new generation Honda WR-V? Do you believe that the bet on the hybrid system is the right path for Honda in Brazil? Leave your opinion in the comments!
