Last Friday, June 11, the governor of Paraíba, João Azevêdo, announced that the state will gain a solar panel factory and a solar power plant. The ventures are expected to generate approximately R$ 4.17 billion, with an estimated 5,100 direct and indirect jobs to be created. The New Solar Panel Factory in the State of Paraíba
The initial investment for the new solar panel factory is approximately R$ 70 million. According to the company’s representative, Olavo das Neves, the Paraíba factory will be the largest of its kind in Latin America. The expectation is to produce 150,000 solar panels per year.
The solar panel factory already has 18,000 square meters of built area and is set to begin receiving production equipment next week. “Between 40 to 50 trucks of products will arrive for the manufacturing park,” he said.

A New Solar Power Plant Will Be Built in Paraíba
The governor of Paraíba, João Azevêdo (Cidadania), also stated that the state will receive “the largest and most modern photovoltaic panel factory in South America, used for solar energy generation.” The announcement was made on Twitter, but the details were conveyed by him during a live broadcast on YouTube.
According to the governor, the leadership of Balfar Solar “represents a strategic investment that points to the future and consolidates our state as a hub for renewable energy generation, promoting sustainable development.”
The company Rio Alto, which is already present in Coremas, is expected to invest R$ 4.1 billion to build a new solar power plant in Santa Luzia and São Mamede, with a capacity of 1.6GW (the largest under construction in the country), sufficient to supply 1.6 million low-income households.

The president of CSN, Benjamin Steinbruch, confirmed on Wednesday that he is negotiating the purchase of Elizabeth Cement, owned by the Farallon fund, a cement factory in the state of Paraíba. The deal may vary from US$ 200 million to 250 million, according to information from the newspaper Valor Econômico.
Steinbruch, president of CSN, stated that he will keep the market informed about any developments regarding this new factory. CSN’s management also indicated that there is not yet a binding document for the acquisition.
According to market experts, the acquisition of the cement factory is considered strategic for CSN’s cement division, which plans to go public on the B3, the São Paulo stock exchange. The company has already registered its public offering of shares (IPO) with the CVM, the securities market regulator.
