Soon, the then president of Petrobras Silva e Luna, will anticipate the return of face-to-face work, leaving aside the home office modality, and will possibly change the fuel price policy.

General Silva e Luna, during the previous meetings he has held with directors and managers of Petrobras, has indicated that he will soon make an administrative-sanitary change, much to the taste of the then President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro: He will bring forward the return to face-to-face work and leave the home office aside, applying new changes to the state-owned fuel policy.

The home office at Petrobras is valid until June, according to Lauro Jardim, from O Globo, but it was a consensus in the current board that it would be extended until December. At the end of February, shortly after appointing Silva and Luna to Petrobras, President Jair Bolsonaro openly criticized the home office at Petrobras. According to him, the current president of Petrobrás has been at home for 11 months, without carrying out his activities and working remotely. For the president, the boss has to be in front, as well as his directors.

Petrobras and the possible change in the fuel price policy

Another movement expected by the financial market is about a calibration in the fuel price policy, regarding Luna commanding Petrobras.

Cesar Bergo, President of the Regional Economy Council, believes that the fuel price policy must change to what it was before White Castle, that is, fluctuations in fuel will not be felt immediately.

The market paid attention to the meeting of the Board of Directors of Petrobras, on Monday, to approve the nomination of the name of General Joaquim Silva e Luna, by President Jair Bolsonaro, for the command of the state-owned company.

According to analysts, this approval will not significantly influence the fuel. What will indicate whether the company will in fact be stable will be future governance within international standards.

Home office amid the pandemic

With the rapid advance of the pandemic, businesses and stores of all sizes have been forced to make a quick shift to the offline model. Even before the pandemic, according to home office statistics, the work model already covered a large part of Brazil.

According to IBGE data, in 2018 around 3,8 million Brazilians worked remotely. The home office work model also shows good adherence among startup companies and other private initiatives such as, for example, virtual stores that operate almost entirely online.

Another survey, now by Pulses, in 2020 pointed out that, even during the pandemic, 78% of Brazilians feel more productive working remotely. What today is an improvement in production, until recently, the Home office model was not seen with good eyes, this is because companies thought that employees would be more prone to distractions if they were at home, and as a result, they would not deliver good results.

New president of Petrobras should take over this Friday

General Silva e Luna was appointed by Jair Bolsonaro to preside over the state-owned company in place of Roberto Castello Branco, after wear and tear involving the increase in fuel prices.

Petrobras' Board of Directors will meet in an extraordinary manner next Friday to elect General Joaquim Silva e Luna as the new president of the state-owned company, according to two industry sources.

The expectation is that, after being formally appointed by the Board of Directors, General Silva e Luna will hold an internal inauguration ceremony with the directors of the state-owned company. This could be on Friday itself or on Monday, although the date is still open.
