New Dry Port of R$ 500 million in Foz do Iguaçu Promises to Make the City the Largest Logistics Center in Brazil, with Capacity for 2 Thousand Trucks per Day and Focus on International Commerce.

With an investment of R$ 500 million and capacity to receive up to 2 thousand trucks per day, the new Dry Port of Foz do Iguaçu promises to transform the Paraná city into the most important logistics center in Brazil. Officially announced on August 4, 2025, the project, led by Multilog and supported by the Government of Paraná and the Federal Revenue Service, will be the largest dry port in Latin America and symbolizes a revolution in customs infrastructure at the Triple Frontier between Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.

The construction of the new facility will not only increase the operational capacity of the current unit by 30% but also generate 250 direct jobs, strengthening the local and regional economy. With an expected delivery date in December 2026, the project is considered a logistical and commercial milestone for the country.

New Dry Port in Foz do Iguaçu: Investment and State-of-the-Art Structure

The billion-dollar investment by Multilog, one of the largest logistics operators in the country, was driven by the need to expand the capacity for cargo outflow and optimize customs control at the Triple Frontier. Covering a total area of 550 thousand square meters, the new complex will feature:

  • 197 thousand m² of maneuvering and parking yards for trucks
  • 7.2 thousand m² of covered area for storage and inspection
  • 600 m² of cold chambers with exclusive docks for perishable products
  • Automated systems for weighing, vehicle identification, and access
  • Surveillance technology with cameras and non-intrusive inspection scanners

The structure was also designed with a focus on driver comfort, offering rest areas, restrooms, and safe waiting spaces, something rarely prioritized in large logistics centers.

Foz do Iguaçu as the Most Important Logistics Center in Brazil

According to the president of Multilog, Djalma Vilela, the new dry port is three times larger than the current structure and “represents a new logistical frontier for Foz do Iguaçu,” designed to meet not only Brazilian demand but also to attract part of the cargo from Paraguay, which currently utilizes the Port of Montevideo (Uruguay).

With the construction of a container terminal, Foz do Iguaçu will be able to redirect the flow of Paraguayan goods to the Port of Paranaguá, on the coast of Paraná. This represents a reduction of 400 km compared to the traditional route to Montevideo, increasing regional competitiveness and consolidating the city as a strategic logistics hub in Mercosur.

Dry Port, Logistics, and Regional Development

The Dry Port project is part of a comprehensive infrastructure package promoted by the Government of Paraná to transform mobility in the western region of the state. Among the initiatives are:

  • Duplication of the Cataratas Highway
  • Construction of the East Perimeter Road, which diverts heavy traffic from the urban area
  • New Brazil-Paraguay Integration Bridge, already in the final phase
  • Strategic road concessions to attract more investments

According to Governor Ratinho Junior, the project “will bring much more tranquility and efficiency in the outflow and entry of cargo in Paraná, facilitating foreign trade and inspection at the Triple Frontier.”

Multilog Invests in Logistics Hub of Mercosur

With operations in 35 units across the country, 2.2 million square meters of storage areas, and a solid presence in Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, and Rio Grande do Sul, Multilog has positioned itself as the main operator of customs facilities in Brazil.

The company holds the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, which allows it to operate with agility and security at the main industrial and customs logistics centers.

With the new Dry Port of Foz do Iguaçu, Multilog takes another step in its plan for consolidation as a leader in border logistics and foreign trade, also targeting the growth of exports and imports in the Southern Cone.

Economic Impact: Movements and Revenue Expected to Double

In 2024, the current Dry Port of Foz do Iguaçu handled 8.6 million tons of cargo, generating revenue of US$ 8.6 billion (R$ 47.4 billion). With the new terminal, the expectation is to double this capacity, attracting new commercial flows and streamlining the supply chain in the region.

The project is also expected to relieve urban traffic in the city, as the new facility is located outside the center, along the BR-277, one of the main logistics corridors in Southern Brazil.

The operating license for the start of construction was granted by the Institute of Water and Land (IAT), which ensured that the process followed all technical and environmental procedures. The construction will be divided into two phases, with the first concentrating R$ 240 million on the implementation of the truck yard and storage area.

According to the director-president of IAT, Everton Souza, economic development must be aligned with the strict compliance of environmental rules. The agile but technical licensing process was one of the priorities to make the project feasible without delays.

Foz do Iguaçu at the Center of the New Logistics Geography of Brazil

The construction of the largest dry port in Latin America in Foz do Iguaçu represents a structural change in Brazilian logistics.

With heavy investments, state-of-the-art technology, strategic location, and state support, the project not only modernizes the customs system of the Triple Frontier but also repositions Foz do Iguaçu as the logistical epicenter of Brazil and Mercosur.

In addition to the direct economic gains, such as the 250 jobs generated and increased tax revenue, the new Dry Port promises to transform the city into a hub for foreign trade, connecting logistics flows between Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and other international markets more efficiently.
